Storage issues

Hey, I'm having a bit of troubles and this seemed like the best place to go to get them solved.
I recently got the new Zune software (or at least it looks different than what it used to) after using the original version for over a year now. I had to wipe my Zune and resync my collection. I have roughly 26 gigs of music and a 30 gig Zune, so one would assume that the music would fit, but for some reason the software is saying that I am 5 gigs over the capacity. Do the drivers and everything really take up THAT much room on the Zune?
Help would be just great, I have exams coming up and I really dislike not having all my music on hand.
