Default Using Zune while connected to pc

While connected to my pc my screen on the zune just says "syncing..." and "connected" is there no way i can mess around on it while being connected to my pc?

Close the Zune software. You should be able to mess around with your Zune while connected to your pc.

Or you can just use the Zune Software and save the battery power on your Zune.
