Angry Zune confusion

Alright, I had a helluva time trying to get my Zune software back up and running. Finally did, and then the newest software decided to upgrade my Zune (I have the first gen 30 gig Zune), but it decided to upgrade the firmware to the style the new Zunes have? First of all, is that supposed to happen?

And suddenly, after the update, songs aren't playing right. A song will play for 20-30 seconds, then the sound will die, but the counter will continue. Around 40-50 seconds, the song will continue, but the counter will freeze until the song itself has caught up the the counter.

And then, there are the random freezes/taking too long to access a file/artist. wtf is going on with my Zune!!!??? Help please!

Firstly, Yes.
Secondly, Try a hard reset. (hold down and back at the same time)
Then turn it back on.

I've tried all of that... and it still does it. I just don't understand whats going on. And I don't want to have to delete everything except the firmware and start over... but it almost seems as though its my only option

wow that was weird. every song did that screwed up thing with the counter, i deleted one song (the first one I tried playing) then sent it over again, and now everything is working perfectly fine as if there was never a problem. Thank god I dont have to a full wipe of the player. That woulda been devastating. Thanks for your inputs though

That isn't a hard reset, that turns your Zune off
