Default Defective Zune 30 #2- Refund?

So, my first zune turned into a brick on me just out of the blue. It was still under warranty so I returned it and they sent me another one. This one has problems right off the bat; loose headphone jack (bad connection= sounds like crap), and it just shuts down suddenly whenever it feels like it. So I'm sending this one back too. Now I'm pretty frustrated and I think the Zune 30 was just rushed to market and is a piece of crap.

Has anyone had any luck getting a refund or credit toward a new Zune(80) through Microsoft customer support? I requested it, but they said it may take up to 20 days to get a "decision". Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this.

Yeah you can get credit for a new Zune 80, just pay the difference.

Trust me, it's not. You've just had very bad luck, my friend. Call MS Support and ask if you can pay the extra 50 through a CC and try the 80. Zune Support is actually fairly good(it was for me anyways).

Good luck.

if you get a good 30 it is worth the wait its more sturdy than the 80 by my opinion but they will give you credit towards one if you wish

Ive had my Zune 30 for a while now, and its perfect. Ive never had any trouble out of the Zune itself, the software upgrade was a different story but that too is fixed now. Zune 30s are good and sturdy for the most part. Better than iPod anyway thats for sure.

I'm not sure if you can, but you can try and ask if you can. I think it's only for people who send their zune's in for repair due to a defect. Well back to this post, dude you got really bad luck! Feel bad for you, can't see myself with out my zune. Well yeah to answer your question, my friend sent in his z30 for repair but instead got a z80 paid a 50 diff, and he says it went smoothly and fast. Didn't take 20 days, only about like 10 he said. I say just get refund, buy your zune80 or zune 30(if they have in stock still) from circuit city or another store like walmart and get warranty for it that will cover cosmetic and internal device problems/defects. You'll get a new zune, more gb's, and a warranty that will ensure you a new zune if anything happens for a year or two.

Thats what I would do. because of all the above reasons.

I have the original Zune 30 Halo 3 Edition. I want to know if I send it in for repairs, will I get the same case back, basically my same Zune or a new Halo edition one incase thay can't fix mine, because well, I did pay the extra $50 when it first came out for it and it would suck if they give me another because that would practically mean I threw $50 away.

They would probably give you a Halo one. Call them first to make sure.

My Zune 30 is in for repair. I called the tech support line, asked about an exchange and they said they don't do that, never have, never will. Where did you call to get the exchange ?

Default Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh..........

So I sent in my zune 30 and requested (over the phone and in writing) that they send me a zune 80 instead of another (#3) zune 30, and I would gladly pay the difference. The person in customer service said she processed my request, but it would take up to 20 days to be approved, and they would contact me by email with a response.

No Response.

So yesterday, I got home from work and there was a fedex sticker on my door. They tried to deliver a package (zune #3) but needed a signature. So I decided to call zune support to find out what it was they sent me before I signed for it. They said it was another zune 30. Now I am Mad. They just totally ignored my request, didn't even contact me like they said they would, and just did what they wanted to. I ended up on the phone for almost 2 hours last night with a "level 2 support tech" telling me there is no record of any such request, and that the zune 80 is identical to the 30, just more storage, (which I know is BS) and that there is no way I coould get 3 bad ones in a row and basically that I should just take my "new" (refurb) zune and shut up. He said there is no policy to upgrade to a zune 80 as I described. Now my zune (#3) only has a 60 day warranty and if it breaks again, which I am assuming it will, I am screwed.

So how the hell do you get an upgrade to a zune 80?!? Has anyone done this succesfully and how? Do I need to call Bill Gates directly?

Sorry for the rant, but really, has anyone actually done this or is it a myth?

-Dave

I have the case number and the date that I called. They said they have the case info, but there was no record of my request in the case info. The guy I talked to last night said that they may pull the tapes from that call, but I doubt they will actually do anything for me, if they even pull the tapes at all.
