I am so damned stupid, I cannot figure out how to load videos onto my Zune 30. I have read many of the help posts here, but most of your responses seem to be aimed at a level of PC use which is WAY over my head. Is there any thread here that can take me step by step and doesn't assume that I actually understand any of these techo steps beforehand? A REALLY remedial tutorial?
It's terribly embarrassing, but I just don't get it. I have managed to get music onto my Zune, but I cannot make it do video. I believe that I've converted a South Park episode to WMV, and I have told the Zune software which folder that I've put the video into. But it never finds anything there. I can't drag anything that it can't find. I've tried dragging from My Computer into the Zune icon, but that doesn't seem to work either.
Once again, I'm sorry. But I need a thread for a beginner. For someone as dumb as me. A thread that explains things really down to basics. It's terribly humbling for a 44 year old who has been in the elctronics business for 20 years to not "get it". This is more than frustrating.
hmm.. a bit confused.. but uhh.. try not to let zune software monitor your folder, open up the location of the video, drag it into the zune software in the video tab section.. that should work..

I have the Windows Media program running a conversion right now. I have also removed all the video folders in the Zune software, so I believe it isn't monitoring anything now. (I left the music folders there. If I shouldn't, please advise also.) So, once I have this video converted, the question remains how to get the Zune software to find it. I assume this is the "dragging" part... but my question is from where? My Computer?
Again, my deepest thanks folks. I have made more progress in the last 30 minutes than I have since I got this thing at Christmas!
you shouldn't since if you move your music or delete something.. it will delete it in your zune also. drag the video from the folder into the zune software. as in open your zune software, drag the video in the video section.

Okie dokie, I'll try that. The video is in it's 2nd pass right now, so I'm not ready for that yet, but I'll give it a whirl at that point. I'll probably need more hand-holding then, but right now I'm quite happy with my progress. You guys are awesome.
Well, dummy over here can't seem to manage "drag"....
I have held the right mouse button, and the left mouse button, tried dragging the file from where I have it stored in My Computer (to be specific, F:\Video) into the open space under Video in the Zune software. No soup. I've also tried dragging it over the little Zune icon in the lower left, with no discernable result.
There is a 10 year old young man asleep upstairs that is going to be real happy with his Dad tomorrow morning. (er, later this morning, I guess...) Now I can fill up his Zune with this South Park stuff for him.
Of course, I'll have more questions, like whether or not this method will work with actual DVD movies, or with podcasts. Or other video thingys. But that isn't the big urgency, and I'll save that for another night.
Thanks again folks. This is really reassuring, and I am grateful to you folks for all the help. G'nite!
if you want movies and stuff on your zune.. i would recommend you to start using other programs.. to make the file smaller... like winavi, xlisoft... etc..
