Exclamation Whats a safe volume to listen to your zune?

I was listening to my zune today and I had it all the way up to 20...
I usually always listen to it that loud not because I can't hear but just because I like my music super loud.
I've always heard a ringing in my ears since I was little so I never thought much of it when I take out my ear buds and hear ringing in my ears
I usually just tune it out.

But today I was walking and listening to my zune and out of nowhere I started to hear this weird flapping noise and a ringing in my ear the literally sounded like a tiny bell ringing!
Like wtfff.
It didn't go away for about five minutes..
Scared the shizznets outta me :[

And this morning when I woke up I went to go listen to my zune and without even looking I pushed the back arrow and then pushed play...
The music blasted so loud I dropped my zune.

So what is a safe volume to listen to my zune at?
I have the zune premium earphones and an extremely big and loud family that never shuts up :|

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this :/

the only time i have it turned up all the way to 20 is when i am mowing or working outside around a lot of noise.
but an a normal basis i listen to it around 8 to 12.

the out of nowhere noise that u were talking about is proll a result of listening to ur music that loud all the time. some ppls ears r more sensetive than others, maybe urs werent as senetive, so it took a little while for it to get to u.

I only listen to mine around 9-13 but if im in a "loud" mood itll get jacked up to 18. It again also depends on the headphones you use. My ears ring when you cant hear anything else.

I agree with Charge - I believe that a faint ringing is normal, especially in a very quiet location. But, going on your post, you are playing your music too loud. Hearing damage is permanent - you should do yourself a favor turn the music down.

My Zune 30 normally doesn't go above 14, but also keep in mind that the gain on music files are not always the same (example: I try to keep my MP3's under 0dB, to avoid clipping).

Get noise-reducing headphones. After I did that, I listened to it at 2-4. I could still hear people if I wanted, but could tune them out too.

You're going to go deaf, if you keep up what you're doing.

If you have to turn the volume down to hear people, technically you are listening to it too loud.
May you read and become knowledgeable.

15 is probably the highest you can safely go... but like you I always listen to my music at 20, unless I'm trying to sleep, and then I turn it down to around 12. I've noticed that I'm already losing my hearing, and I'm only 17.

None of my music is the same volume level, so poorly mastered tracks need to be at higher volumes etc. It also highly depends on your headphones (brand, style, model).

10-12 and some songs require you to turn it up a lil bit louder because they are low pitched or it has a low melody ....

I use the premium headphones and I never have to go above 3, even while on the bus. I don't know how any of you stand to listen to your music at those higher levels.

Typically, I notice more bass and background music when I turn it up, which makes the experience more enjoyable.
