actually mine looks a little different now, the zune symbol has a little word bubble saying "bend over and get something to bite on this could be a while" any one elses zune saying that? im really concerned
Ok so im not the only one this has happened to my Zune 30gig has stop working..at first it showed me the battery sign ..i charged it for like 30 min and then it started to load..and now im here!! Cant go into 09 without my music and guess hwere its all at..???? ON MY ZUNE
i switched it on today ....the logo screen appeared with the loading bar and it got stuck suddenly....
i even waited for the battery to drain....charged it after that...once there was sufficent charge it booted but the same thing happened i.e the logo screen appeared with the loading bar and it gets stuck!!!!!!!!! wtf!!!
i stay in india and i dont know where i can get zune support from....and!! i had to take my zune for a party today to play music....im all screwed up :s :s some1 please find a solution!!!
I disconnected the battery, gave it 30 seconds and reconnected..working fine.
To disconnect
pry plastic cover off by connector
remove two screws
pry gently aound zune case starting at bottom working around to top
batter cable is flat copper and runs length of case
lift retainer clip where cable connects to circut board remove cable
reassembly is reverse order
ensure the "lock" still works after reassembly

ok guys by unpluging the battery and the charge cable it will reboot and it will reload , but it only good for 10 minutes after the first time , so only do this if the update patch is released , BECAUSE with it like this you cant get windows to see it to update patch so ive tried everything i can think of short of purging software and going back to old copy
I forget if this is possible, but are you able to change the time/date back to a time before the 31st of December in this 10 minute time frame?
ok.....how long is this supposed to take? i've been clearing contents for like 10 minutes.....i've formatted 100 gig hard drives faster. also, there's no bulletin on the zune page or the microsoft home page....what a disgrace. we've all been severely bent over here.
I have the very first version of the software on Windows Media Center 2002, which is normally incompatible with the Zune(changed/added files to get it working). I always try to keep my Zune battery at full, I've never had the battery die/bring up that low battery screen once. In other words, a Zune in pristine condition just froze on me at 2:00am D:
This pretty much confirms the speculation that there's some bad code in the Zune and not the software.
All i see is that stupid logo and the grey bar..if this really is mS way of trying to sell the new gen Zune..way to go for the 09 what a freakin start **** you bill gates
i cleared content on mine once, seemed to take forever, and yes reject, thats why i have been telling people not to... you cannot change the internal date as far as i could see only the time....

Do NOT open your 30gb zune to Disconnect the battery... it will reboot and go back to the loading screen
yeah, i butchered mine with a butter knife, pulled the battery, waited a bit, plugged back in, and it loads up and goes to a black screen. i did the up-back thing and as soon as it hit the loading screen i hit select-left-back and it started to clear contents, but it's still doing it like 20 minutes later.
I can't believe this...Im along with the rest of the millions on people who Zune randomly froze and wont work again on dec 31....what the crap!!!!I t was fine all today and I have turned it off and on all day and it changes to the 31 and my zune is suddenly a brick?! Overheating is impossible since it wasw working and I turned it off and upon loading it froze! Ah..It finally died so lets see what happens once its powered again...I thankfully didn charge it all the way today!
nevermind...still nothing. Its a brick after charge up....
