i have an idea my be helpful may not be but if your zune used to sync why dont you just go to your system restore and restore your computer to a date were you know it worked well thats my 2 cents hope it helps
Well try this:
Drain The Battery Most Of The Way (dont let it get completely drained)
Then Re-install the firmware
or try using a different usb port on your computor
