HOW TO REQUEST
If you like being shamed and ridiculed, don't use the request template. Everyone else will have more fun, and your request will have no chance of being honored. Otherwise,
following the template below would be a good idea.
Quote:
NAME OF PROPOSED GAME
Description of gameplay, including any necessary diagrams, illustrations, and links
Description of button mapping (what functions are linked to which buttons)

WHAT NOT TO REQUEST
Internet applications, including but not limited to Web browsers, weather apps, and e-mail clients
All games and applications must be written for XNA, the programming system for the Zune. XNA is very limited in functionality, and one of these limitations is that it
can't connect to a WiFi network. No network, no Internet - straight up.
You might say, "But I can do multiplayer with Zune games". Yes you can, but it's the wrong kind of WiFi. XNA can connect directly to other Zunes to do multiplayer gaming, but that offers zero ability to secure the widely desired Internet access.
Finally, you might be asking, "If that's the case, why can I connect to the Zune Marketplace with the new firmware?" The Zune firmware itself has no problem connecting to the Internet - but XNA insulates games and apps from the full potential of the Zune. Microsoft stands directly to gain from letting people pay up to download songs over the Internet; meanwhile, letting XNA games access the Internet has zero benefit to Microsoft.
tl;dr: IT CAN'T BE DONE. ASKING OVER AND OVER AGAIN ISN'T GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN, EITHER.
Any popular franchise, including but not limited to Zelda, Metroid, Mega Man, and Mario
These have all been requested a million times over and have complexity far beyond what could be practically accomplished by the development community here. Additionally, ports of these games are held up to an extremely high standard of accuracy which is difficult at best to meet.
tl;dr: THESE HAVE BEEN REQUESTED OVER AND OVER. THEY'RE NOT HAPPENING.
Xbox Live Arcade games, including but not limited to Geometry Wars, etc.
The Xbox's graphics processor isn't just for 3D graphics - it accelerates 2D as well. This allows 2D games with much more complex graphics than what the Zune can handle. Geometry Wars would be impossible to implement on the Zune for the same reason Halo is impossible to implement on the Zune - slow graphics hardware.
tl;dr: 2D GRAPHICS REQUIRE GRAPHICS HORSEPOWER TOO.
Any 3D game, including but not limited to Doom, Halo, and Call of Duty
The Zune doesn't provide any hardware support for 3D graphics at all. The upshot of this: any attempts at 3D rendering are going to be running at framerates that don't come close to anyone's idea of playable. Raycasting, a high-speed semi-3D technique, has been developed, but even it runs at barely-usable framerates and requires a vast amount of work to integrate into a game. The Zune HD is powerful enough to play 3D Games but XNA has limited it to only being able to use 2D Graphics like the others.
tl;dr: THE ZUNE ISN'T FAST ENOUGH FOR 3D AND XNA WON'T LET 3D WORK ON THE ZUNE HD.
Board games
While most of those would be doable, the set of users that would be remotely interested in playing them is infinitesimal. Additionally, many of these games have massive complexity that makes them impractical to implement.
tl;dr: NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY BOARD GAMES.
Emulators, including but not limited to NES, Game Boy, Atari, and ZX Spectrum emulators
The Zune simply lacks the processing power to make any serious emulator a reality. Emulation efforts for all of these emulators have taken place, and while unusable frame rates have been accomplished, no emulator project has been a success (and the work required to make one a success is either impractical or impossible).
tl;dr: THE ZUNE LACKS THE POWAH.
Internet-dependent games, including but not limited to Runescape, World of Warcraft, and all other MMOs
See #1.
tl;dr: THEY'RE CALLED "MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER
ONLINE" GAMES FOR A REASON.
AVOIDING DUPLICATE REQUESTS
Failing to use the Search button will cause your request to be dismissed - with prejudice.
On the blue bar at the top of the forum, you will see a
Search this Forum link. Clicking this will display a search field. Enter search terms related to your game (like the name of the game or the genre it's in) and verify that no one else has submitted a largely similar request.
If the game has been requested before and
doesn't fit any of the categories described in WHAT NOT TO REQUEST, you may
consider posting a new request. If you do so, acknowledge the previous thread in your post and indicate that you are re-requesting it in the hopes of getting an interested developer to see it.
HACKING AND/OR MODDING THE ZUNE TO PLAY A GAME
The Zune can't be hacked or modified to play games. Even if someone tried this it would most likely result in damaging your Zune and voiding your warranty.
WHY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE IS GOOD FOR YOUR KARMA
If you violate these guidelines, the fate of your request will already have been decided - and it won't be the fate that you desire. Meticulously checking your requests with these instructions will greatly increase your chances of having your request brought from idea into reality.
