With no programming skills, going off of what my friend said, this is how I think AI works.
The computer knows the best move for any situation. On easy it might do that move 25% of the time, on medium it might do that move 50% of the time, and on hard it might do the best move 75% of the time.
I think the AI would definitely be possible, I just have no idea on how hard it would be.
Also, did I get the AI technique right? Any of you programmers should know
More like you came up with a self-fulfilling prophecy. My post was influenced by my reading of yours

Also, while it would be theoretically possible to create a chess AI implementation that would always select the optimal move, this is effectively impossible due to the computing power it would take to simulate every possible game scenario. Remember, even chess programs on supercomputers lose to humans. Obviously, the Zune isn't a supercomputer.
AI can be implemented much more effectively for many other, less complicated games.
Hey, chess is probably possible. I bet it's been requested a lot before though. It'd probably be better to bump that one than to make a new one and get ridiculed for not searching

My BE-300 (166 MHz, 12 MB RAM) can easily run a chess program with decent AI. Would the Compact .NET Framework once again be the destroyer of dreams in this case? I have no idea how much slower the Compact .NET Framework is compared to pure native code.

I was mainly responding to Tim's implication that "The computer knows the best move for any situation." It probably would be possible to make a Zune game with effective chess AI that runs at an acceptable speed, though it probably would be slower than your BE-300.
So, what are we supposed to request?!?!?!?!?!? I mean, I'd really like to see Mario 3 from the NES put on to the Zune, or one of the other simple NES games like castlevania. Or possibly just really simple 2D side-scrollers from the NES, y'know?
Also, just to possibly/probably piss someone off, what about I Wanna Be The Guy??? XD
Hopefull the 3RD GENERATION ZUNES WILL support 3D Games like the ipodtouch. That would be fantastic.
Um, all the zunes support some level of 3d.

How about thinking up your own ideas?

Not built-in. A few people have coded up their own 3D engines, but the lack of hardware acceleration and the slow coding environment mean that even an implementation of Doom would be dog slow, let alone something more sophisticated.

True, but you can't blame people for wanting the classics. The main problem is not that they aren't original but that they're a pain in the ass to implement.

I'm not blaming him for wanting the classics, but he didn't know what to request besides classics. I of course would like to see NES games on the Zune, but there are many other great ideas to use, also.
