Default Audiosurf...

tis a very cool game which probably would work on the zune if it were simplified (it's a puzzle game which works w/ your music library)

Yea, except

A) This dosen't follow the Request Template.

B) You obviously can't look past the 1st page, because if you did you would find there's already been FOUR threads on AudioSurf.

C) The zune can't render 3D accellerated Graphics

D) Don't say "o wel it culd be in 2D" because no, that would defeat the entire point of the game, since it needs to be 3D so you can see the blocks that are coming at you.

And finnaly, E) Before someone comes in and says "you can do it with RayCasting" Well you could MAYBE make the track with RayCasting, but EVERYTHING in Audio Surf is 3D, and I do not believe that RayCasting can handle that, since the blocks would have to be sprites and thus defeats the purpose.

I guess I missed the part in my post where I said "please try to rip my head off".

*hihi*

I guess some people here are just annoyed by people who do not use search function and do not use the request template... it just happens too often

WAY too often, espically when it is STICKED at the top of the page. So when people are too lazy to even read, it annoys me that they are asking people to make a game without any idea of the kind of effort and work it takes.

Audiosurf uses an engine to detect db levels at all points in the song in order to work, if something like that was made for the zune the coding would be pretty extensive, but I hear someones working on a varient already.

If it can't do 3d, couldn't you drive from an overhead view? That would still be fun.

that seems like a good solution...I was trying to picture that... the game is pretty good in 3D on a PC but a Zune version would be the ultimate

Best of luck...

Um...then it would just be tetris with a spaceship with blocks that fall down to music. Since if it's 2D, you dont get the bumps and twists and speed ups and slow downs thats in the game. Audiosurf on the Zune is not possible, end of story.

A 2D game with blocks that fall down in time with the music is a different story, but it's not Audiosurf. And even then, I don't think that'd be very fun.

You people have no sense of creativity. You could use raycasting for notes to fly at you like guitar hero.

I surprised this many people even care about Zune games. I think honestly the little keynote showing off the Zune's capabilities was misleading. I thought the Zune could handle some of those user created games like JellyCar and stuff. And I also thought there would be some official games. But nope. People should do their research before they come on these pages and request games, but at the same time we're a community. We help each other out. Just because someone requests a game that's just not possible doesn't mean you should jump down their throat and be rude. After all it says "Have an awesome idea for a game? Feel free to share!" not "This better be logical, you're wasting our time!".

How about this. Sticky a thread that explains the Zunes capabilities and make sure everyone reads it, so when the request a game, it might actually work. We might get farther that way.

There is also nothing that says everyone has to be 100% supportive of the idea. There is a forum for Development Discussions, DISCUSSIONS, and a forum for Requests, so logically you would assume, if someone is posting here, they obviously have some expectation of someone making the game for them.

Too much drama, lol. Just because somebody bites your head off, it doesn't require a reaction anymore than a thread that already been posted requires a whine-out.

I hadn't though of it much, I'd play a music-themed tetris w/ some new features. The no-3d thing is a problem but it teaches us to maximize the zune hardware, you know? Think outside the 2d box.

This looks like a game that Microsoft would have to develop for the Zune themselves along with a firmware update to run the thing.

Allright I revived this thread. The only reason I really did this was in hopes that zune wil release a better accelerator with the 120. Anyway does anybody have anything else to comment? (before this thread goes down the drain again. sheesh.)

Here is your answer for requesting the game. Now we can all get on with our lives and do things the way it is supposed to be done (Hint request Template). And also try not to bite off peoples heads for a mistake everyone makes...
