how complicated of a code change would be required for a flip? could a left and right handed mode be an option?

I'm left-handed, but they all feel fine to me. Then again, I use my right hand for almost everything except writing. I can see how it could be irritating, though.

I have almost no use of my right hand, so video's and games are a pain, but then again, most of life is.

Most of the games use the zune vertically, allowing left or right.

I'm surprised that you guys are having issues. As far as I know, or have experienced, the Wii is the first console to ever address the issue of left-handed and right-handed players. Up until now, left-hand gamers have been forced to adapt or just not play. The N64 was pretty close, but I had issues with that. I guess I'm used to using my right hand. Although with the Wii I use my left hand for the analog stick. Anyway, hopefully someone figures this out for you!

Actually it's a very easy thing to change!
I might include a left handed/right handed option for my next release of pong

For people wanting to make a left handed game out of right, find theses codes:
DPad.Left
DPad.Right
DPad.Up
DPad.Down

and flip them right becomes left, up becomes down that sort of thing, just open the sln file in C# and use ctrl+f to open the find dialog and look for those replacing each one.

You could also switch
Buttons.Back and Buttons.A with each other A is the play/pause and Back is the back button

I actually don't know how possible this is, as far as i know, the Zune only rotates horizontally one way. So unless your playing a game (like pong) where direction doesn't matter, you would end up playing up side down.

In a game, you can rotate the screen the way you want, but everyone who used the screen in landscape format rotated to the right because it's more natural (since the use rotates that way when viewing vids and pictures)
But it's possible to rotate the screen on the other side and use the buttons as if they were on the left side of the Zune

That would just make the controls backwards

Not for a left handed person, plus this would only apply to landscape games, theres no point in doing it for portrait style games.

ps. You would also have to rotate all the images 180 degrees, but thats not hard

To anyone who is still interested in this, take a look at Running Man. I implemented a handling for lefthanded people. To any developers, you can of course take a look at how I did it and use this way to include it in your games...

Manic Miner allows you to rotate the screen any way you want so this is perfect for you and its also a pretty fun game, just hard.
