Default Zune Messanger?(and ZUNECARDSTV vid)

Or chat room/lobby that can be added to a multiplayer zune game? doesn't seem too far fetched when you think about it, I just thought this would be a great idea. It works for the Nintendo DS and i think it also gets a 30 ft or so range. What do you guys think? If a chat room was implemented to a game itself instead of a standalone version of the game it could be a lobby, for example whenever a game ends it sends everyone that played there, could show stats on the same screen etc. If we can't do it i'm sure the XNA, or Zune team will.

Did all of you see this vid?- ZUNECARDSTV told me this in a message that he has no info on the game and that he's been searching the web like crazy for more info on it :[ would you guys happen to know anything on it? It looks pretty sweet, you have the ability to change characters, find a game, etc. This would be the type of game that would be fun to have a lobby.

That game looks awesome.. I posted an article about it over at gotzune because I thought it looked so tight. I know no more than him though... I wish they'd release it to the public!!

You made an article over there? Nice. And Yeah i wish theyd release SOME info on it. I'm pretty sure that the XNA team made it because i think i hear Mike Klucher's voice in there a couple times. could be wrong, but if it's not them who else knows so much about the software? plus the vid was added on the 6th, a day before the CTP was released.

Yep, that's an internal game that has not been released. It also is not known whether it ever will be released.

As for the messenger, it would be easy to do the actual networking aspect. The reason it works on the DS is they have a touch screen for quickly typing out messages. On the Zune you have a DPad and therefore it would be really slow to type it out. I'll try and rough up a prototype in the next week or two and see what everyone thinks.

Sweet I can't wait :] haha

Btw: They BETTER release that game, if they aren't planning on finishing it and were just using it to test what the zune could do or w/e they should at least just give it to us to mess with too you know?

It's hard for them to release code. If you release code as Microsoft, you have to be pretty darn sure it works and works well. There's a code review process for even the smallest samples and that takes time and resources (i.e. money). I would like to see that code as much as anyone else, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah i see what you mean, but they should still understand that it was more of a personal project idk I just don't think it should matter and the zune team itself isn't directly apart of Microsoft necessarily, and i'm sure they aren't THAT much intrested in their ctp zune games anyway. btw check this out http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/gam...e-notepad.html I was gonna ask you or jsedlak about it since i saw j's text deal in GW3 and you said your gonna try and make an instant messanger, i just figured i'd do a request instead

Both the Zune and XNA teams are very much a part of Microsoft and as such are subject to all the legal scrutiny that accompanies that. Why do you think there were no samples games included with the CTP? So they didn't have to put them through review and spend that time and money.

Yes i understand 100% I just didn't think it would apply in this situation but it does. We'll just have to wait and see what happens i guess, hopefully they come out with -something- soon

What if you did it like a cell phone type keyboard? Or have something that guesses the word you are trying to do like a cell phone and hitting space would accept it.
