Sorry, I still can't find it. I opened up the windows search function. I located the temp folder but I can't find the DCC90E02-B748-4CDA-9BD6-34E87CEBD20F. I also tried just pasting Cocuments and SettingsNAMELocal SettingsTemp{DCC90E02-B748-4CDA-9BD6-34E87CEBD20F} with my login name substituted but there it can't find it?
the desired folder's name varies from one computer to another.
my folder's name started with 888, also there was no cab file in it automatically. therefore, I did it manually.
There are around 5 or 6 folders in the temp folder that have the three bin files in the folder. Do I paste the Zune01050485.cab in all the folders? Or is there a specific one? Also do you just right click, press extract here and overwrite the files? Thanks
Well what I've done so far is finding the folder that is the most recent and then pasted the cab file in the folder manually and then extracting and overwriting the files. I then open up the Zune program for a firmware update, but I still see the error message.
I finally got everything to work. Thanks everyone for your help!
You are correct. It will say the firmware is up to date when trying update it.
If you find a way go get it back to 1.4, please share it with us.
Thanks.
I have two computers, so I connected my zune to another one.
My guess is you should backup zunelib.dll before you patch it. Then restore it later.
Another way is to remove the zune player directory and let setup reinstall it for you.

I replaced the pacthed zunelib.dll with the original one, and then it was updated to 1.4.
Well, the looking of these fonts is not very good. There's no cleartype like effect applied. And some of the charactors can't keep in one straight line.
Hmm... How many languages we can install through this hack?
I just woke up and check my zune. It's actually can only show Engligh and Chinese right now (which is the language of my windows XP). So I wonder if it's possible to improve this hack and make zune can read whatever languages we want?
So here's my whishlist about the font hack:
The user can choose which font (to make it pretty) and what language should be sent.

lutz, my zune can display both chinese and japanese correctly. If yours can not, maybe there's some encoding problem in your mp3's idv3 tag, or there maybe some problem with the font files...
Some other finding:
Maybe it's lucky for you that you cannot display japanese.
I just found that Zune will use different fonts to display ONE single line of string.
For example, is for chinese, is for japanese. Although those are nearly the same, it's quite unacceptable when the first charactor in the string is a pure chinese one and the second is a japanese-chinese one.
Maybe there're some conflicts between mingliu and simsun, too.
This is different from korea+japanese scenario. There's no conflict charactors between that two.
After I get my zif connector(lucky i booked one last week for about 7$) tmr, I'll do some more test on those fonts combinations...

I know that Big5 chinese and Japanese have some characters overlapped.
And it looks like simplified Chinese has same stuff.
But I don't know in zune will this cause any problem though... I mean, if we have correct encoding in tags then your problem shouldn't happen. I'll try that later tonight after I find a good tag tool

It's quite interesting. It seems Zune is using Japanese font at 1st, if there's no correspoding charactor, it will try mingliu and simsun.
All my mp3 files (about 15GB) are suffering from this problem, so I don't think the encoding of all these files are wrong.
here's an example so you can have a clear look, the strange square is from Japanese font, but the third one and the forth one are using Chinese font. The format is different so they can't keep in a single straight line:
I just made a mistake... and killed those Asian fonts by accident.
I still have no idea how zune recognize Japanese(or Korean) characters. My best try gave me about half Japanese songs showing correctly on my zune device but I just don't know why it wouldn't work on the other half. Plus I just realize that zune software can't manage some part of id3 tags, so I might end up kill all tags and redo them in id3v2 tags. We talking about 4500+ songs here...
EDIT:
I set all asian fonts included tags to id3v1 then they're good now. Also, if anyone has problem displaying asian fonts on zune(i.e. lots of ???), go back to your zune software and remove the album, use tag software check the id3v1 tag, save tag, and then import the album back. Make sure the zune software rescan the library tho, the software is pretty lame in this part.
