My first contribution. Disable MP in Zune Software
Hey all, I've got a few things I'm working on, but this is the first to get a result so far that is worth sharing.
I don't use Zune MP, so I didn't understand why I had to let my software download the catalog, or update it everytime I started my software. I went messing in the registry, and that didn't produce anything. COme to find out the Zune software, restores the MP registry entries if they are missing or incorrect. So I tryed a few other things, and of course the most simplest worked.
I renamed the file ZuneMarketplace.dll, in the C:/Program Files/Zune folder and now I don't have to worry about the MP anymore. Only thing I have left is gettin rid of the MP Link in the left hand menu.
You can click on the MP link, but nothing appears under it, and the marketplace no longer downloads.

Or you could change the registry keys that decide where the marketplace gets its URLs. Nice find, but it won't do much for most people, especially those who want to still their marketplace.

I tryed changing the Url and it reverted back to the original every time, and if I removed the registry key, it just replaced it. so this seemed like the fix for me. Plus this will help those that don't have a net connection all the time or are on Dial-up god help them.

Leesman, this is great! I love you man! With the marketplace disabled, the Zune software runs SSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much faster.
Do you mind if I go ahead and post this in completed? I'm sure this will help A LOT of people.
Also, now that you've said this, I may be able to change the marketplace accessed by the Zune program. I wonder if I can get it to connect to iTunes....
PityOnU,
That's fine, I'm still working on trying to get it to drop the Marketplac menu item off, but that may require modding a file, so I'll have to get the resorce hacker and see where it's at.

Cool! Will do!
As for getting rid of the marketplace tab, I think it would require the editing of a .wsz file in one of the .dll's.... if you can get at it at all, so the first thing you would need is a program that will let you view .wsz's, because viewing them in raw code format is hard on the eyes
Resource hacker will allow you to see the raw code for the .wsz files, but until we can find a program that will put it into readable text, it's basically indesciferable.
Check this screen shot out. I found out where it stores the Text for the Menu Item, I can delete the text, but the item is still there, so I gotta find that now.
all the Markerplace.dll is alos is just a .MHT file holder, like a zip file that just has the webpages for marketplace in it, so we may be able to make our own webpages like a Zune Portal, inside the software. But I gott ago back to work so I'll look at this more tonight. I'm in Korea at the moment, so that's why I'm still at work.
Ok Well I seemed to of found a registry fix that would stop it, and it's kind of simple to. I more or less blocked the Zune software from the Zune Musicnet site.
I used the Easteregg hack and just removed all the Trusted Domains. IT stopped downloading right then.
Here's a screen of ZuneBoards in Zune Software, with out the Zune Software having a marketplace catalog. Oh, and if you notice it says ZuneBoards Not, Marketplace, I had to edit the ZuneLoc.dll to change that.

I'm working on updating my website, so it will have everything I have worked on and news on what I am currently working on as well.
I have a zip file created with all the files needed in it, but I don't know if it's legal to allow people to download the modified zuneloc.dll. I guess I could do it and see. here is the url http://www.ktsoftware.net/zune/zuneboard.zip, Now this mod does not do like my other one with renaming the MP dll, the menu item still can be expanded, I can't seem to find a way to stop that and have a page load, or just remove the Menu item altogether either.

if you do that, the program will search for the names of the music?
