I am stuck :[ I am not sure what I have to do. I do not have WMP 11 installed or any codecs. I installed the reg files and expected it to work but it didn't :[ Are you just supposed to drag and drop it in Zune then hit sync?
hi im having touble using this hack i have wmp11 and am running vista i even tried that little fix to the registry you put out but when it starts converting it says error what do i do?
Seeing this fix, which would allow me ot convert DVR-MS files in the Zune software, was what finally persuaded me to buy the Zune. I bought it today and installed the hack, but I get the error when it tries to convert - in Vista, but no klite codec pack. Please help! This is the only reason I bought the Zune.
on mine it says its converted but says its 0 seconds long, can some one help me, it doesnt play on zune either, but says its on zune, thanks in advance.
Seems I'm getting the error too, think it would be helpful if those who've got it working would post their codec source (not to say that's the problem but my codec tray opens up right before the error):

I don't know if i am doing this right but, i unzipped or whatever the files, and when i try to open either mod 1 or 2, i get an error that says "Another program is currently using this file" I don't have any other programs open and this is the frist time i have tried using this file at all. I tried rebooting but i still get the same error. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you!!!
This doesnt work for me with AVI or DVR-MS files. Since applying the hack I can now add the DVR-MS files from my media centre into my library, but when the device starts to sync the files show a status of "converting" for around 20 senconds and I then get an error. Oddly I now cannot get the Zune software to stop trying to convert these files, it attempts and fails every time.
Alright, there have been a lot of problems experienced with this hack and at this point this is all I can say:
I have no idea why some stuff will work and some stuff can't It worked for all of my files, so I can't even attempt a fix or anything. You have to remember, though, I'm pretty sure this stuff wasn't included to begin with for a reason.
Sorry guys, but at this point in time, it's either hit or miss. It either works or it doesn't.
I registered for this site after a google search brought me to this post specifically. I seem to be having the same problem as most people. The mod has allowed me to add .avi files into the library, but when I try to sync, it gets an error. It starts to convert, but fails. The two files I tried to sync are the movies Click and Appocalypto. I think they are both DivX? I tried this mod earlier today without WMP11 and then with it and then with the k-lite codec pack. I'm curious as to what files people have successfully synced with their Zune. Maybe I could download one of these files and try it to see if that would work. If anyone has any help or ideas, I would really like to get this to work so I can bring movies around with me and watch them wherever I want. A really attractive idea...

Also, I've tried using encode 360, but when I do that I get the error of invalid filetype. I'm lost...

I to have been plagued by problems. Unfortunately, I have the K-Lite codec pack. When I tried to convert some of my AVI files all but one failed (some 9 sec animation I made in flash). Does anyone know if there is a alternative codec pack that works? I haven't tested any other file types but ill give them a try.

I don't think i have anything else installed besides the HDD mod
What i did was go to youtube did a search for music videos, converted them online with something and downloaded them as .avi files. I can watch them in VLC player. After i applied this mod, it found all my .avi files, but when I try to sync/convert, all it does it say error and skips to next ones. Any help is much appreciated send me a PM if you can
unfortunately it's still converting to the Zune WMV format, which is not so hot. i was hoping this would allow the Zune to actually play these other formats.
But hey, if it helps some folks, more power to the makers.
