When I press Sync, it says it's starting to convert them (it doesn't go past 0% however), and a few seconds later says error. I have WMP11, I have K-Lite codec pack installed, and it's an xvid file. They play fine in WMP11, if anyone knows any xvid to wmv converters for free I could use instead that would be awesome.
thanks, but v for vendetta will not convert, let alone e played on anything. i changed it to .mp4, .wmv, and .rar and none worked. i did it before and after the regedit. i know it really isn't the right forum
Nice work, good to see some more progress, now if only there was one for .dat files...
.dat files? Like the ones used by some online games and programs for data storage? I don't think so, especially considering .dat files arent even media, they are just a storage medium for text, like a database.

Not quite. The DAT file theDark is referring to are likely those used in VCD.
You really have no idea what you are talking about do you? The avi folder in zuneloc represents some resources for avi files built in to the zune program (such as animations). The zune program is a sister of WMP, so it natively supports almost all of the formats WMP does, just not without a little...coaxing.
...no. try to convert all of the file type it says it can. it will only take the original and .avi files. the zune software can now read all of them but cannot play them. all this did was add video extensions. and it also added a little bit to some software files, but most of this doesnt work. the software still cant convert a .mpg file or anything.
Well there seem to be a few problems being experienced with this hack, so I'll try to indulge a but more:

So if we can create a new .dll file so that the soft ware can read how to convert the files for mpg, mpeg, ect, then i would say this mod is amazing. but right now for this all you have to is open up the registry editor and then just got the software then microsoft then zune then player than extensions then just modify all the files to take what you want it too.
So this just lets you convert .avi files. nothing else. this is because the zune can already read them.

Incorrect. I can't verify this hack for a number of the file types because I do not have any files of the type, but I have tested both .avi and .mpg Mr. CrossedOffName, and I assure you that they both converted perfectly fine. They also play on the Zune perfectly fine. If you are having problems, please post which file types you are working with so we can help you. Bashing this mod (Notice, I did not say hack. It's a mod.) does nothing for anyone.
Also, have you even looked at the contents of the files of which you speak?

Please read the installation instructions before asking questions such as these. I even have them marked in bold print in the first post.

I am beginning to see a common trend with people who can not get this hack to work. Another one of our members has also complain of problems with his files converting (SHIFT_SR20) and he also said that he had the 'K-Lite Codec Pack' installed. I'm not very familiar with this codec pack and wether or not it is from Microsoft or not, but it seems to be causing problems. Everyone else who is having problems, do you also have K-Lite codecs installed?

Unfortunately, since this is a registry hack and very new, I do not have a way to uninstall it... yet. If you simply must get rid of the hack, you're going to have to uninstall and reinstall the Zune software. I would suggest using the UnZoon uninstallation tool.

Unfortunately, as I do not have very many file extensions of songs and videos (I was only able to test this with .avi and .mpg) I don't see any more file extensions coming anytime soon. If, however, someone else on the H&M team or myself ever gets a filetype outside of the now-supported range, you can be sure that there will be a hack for it faster than you can say 'Zune'.
I hope that solves a bit of the confusion. Please tell me if you are having any problems and also include whether you have this K-Lite codec pack installed or not.
Can someone also verify for me whether or not it now syncs .aac files?
omg i love you man... ima bout to go gay...... NOT lol but seriously i wont ahve to right a fricken program to convert all stuff to the ALMIGHT ZUNE FIRMWEAR ACCEPTED FILE TYPES. lol thank you again man...
You are my new best freind If I had one complaint it would be file size of the dvr-ms. But that is an issue with microsofts converting The only request i have left is Audible files, not sure if it will play though, it is a DRM encoding, if you are willing to give it a shot, send me an email: cvannice <AT> timedrifter <DOT> com. and I will send you one of the smaller files.
my files wont convert. It says "converting" but then gives an error message.
im running windows vista ultimate and have intel 945g embeded graphics and embeded audio, i also have firmware version 1.3 for the zune do you think that can be the problem?
