I have a question. By having this, by any chance is that a mod that would void the warranty. I know most hacks would, but since this is just a little registry change mod, I wasnt sure, and I really don't want to spend a year converting 19 gigs of avi videos into wmv's.
Can someone help me out here? |

it would not void the warranty, even if it was against the warranty, there is absolutely no way for them to find out that you did it short of hacking your computer, unless you tell them. But all this does is allow you not to need to download a third party converter, it doesn't do anything they would care about.

i wanted to ask if there was someone else that had the same problem with the multi-expansion thing, the program picks up the avi's but it doesn't want to add them to the zune giving me an error. what can i do? do i have to use a 3rd party converter?

To all having problems converting "random" avi files, please post the video AND audio codec in the avi file that gave an error when zune software tried to convert it. I have a suspision the problem lies in the audio codec, not video.

well, i just got my zune today and had issues, but i noticed something in common with all the avi's that won't convert (besides being xvid)
using gspot 2.70a, i noticed all the avis that refused to convert (errored out) were converted using virtual dubmod v 1.5.10.2 . others, using the same settings using virtual dubmod 1.5.4.1 would convert fine if virtual dub wasn't the encoder used. i just converted a movie using autogk and it works fine, i'll probably do the same tomorrow with virtual dub it see if the issue pops up again. edit: for me, some of the older divx codecs also won't work (like divx3 slow profiles) Last edited by godashram : 09-09-2007 at 12:16 PM. |

This mod seems to work fine for me. I converted a .mpg vid at 1.35 Mbps bit rate and it looks the same on my zune as it does on my pc.
I just open the file with the Zune software, although it doesn't play the vid or anything, and there is a little red X next to the file in the 'now playing' area to the right but then I go to 'Sync' and 'Sync now playing to 'Zune name'' and it converts it! I don't know if that will help anyone, but I thought I would post anyway. |

The Zune device will be able to play the files you synced over.

for me works great just the quality that is poor audio is fine..
ok i've noticed the error (x) next to the file when i sync/convert but then sync/convert the others just fine, after that was done i closed the zune program and reopened it and it started to sync by itself again so i clicked on the "sync results" and saw it converting the file that had an error (x) and started to convert it again and converted perfectly fine no more errors, that is what i noticed about for the program, other than that works great props to the programmer, and by any chance if the quality of the vid can be tweaked so that it converts to a better quality than a poor one, thanks a bunch pityonU |

you said "but a simple change in the options fixes it" if i dont' have to uninstall this program and use another 3rd party to convert than sync it, which is time consuming, how do i change that simple option to fix this problem with the poor quality, do you mean the users or for the programmer to change?????? |

i just recently got my Zune and i want to be able to place .avi files (at least) on it. this program seems to be my answer, but i can't get it to work. the zune program spends no time changing from "converting" to "error" while i'm syncing.
my question is - are there any prerequisite files i need in order for this thing to run? if not, is there some trick to getting this hack installed? |
