Hey, i'm just wondering about some stuff

In media Monkey, it shows Albums, Music and Playlist folders, would i put my music collection in Music or Albums?

Also, if i want to move pictures or videos over, how would i do that?

Morning everyone!

I've developed a new problem using zAlternator. Here's what I've got:
XP Pro
Zune 30
Zune software/firmware 2.* (latest install)
WMP11

As mentioned before I had successfully used zAlt before. But last night I went through the motions, was syncing/browsing/etc my Z30 with WMP11 and finished but I wanted to go back to the Zune software to check to see if some changes had updated.

Then WHAMMO! Zune 30 connects and Zune software crashes. Over and over again. If I zAlt back to 'Generic WPD' (or don't connect the Z30) the Zune software won't crash. But change it back to Zune Priority and re-connect and same crash. I'm scratching my head.

Any suggestions?

*edit* Oh yeah- and now I can't go back to WMP11 as the sync 'loop' was broken. So effectively I have an unconnectible device.

"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."

i get that and i i know i unlocked my zune correctly b/c wmp11 recognizes it

Correct. Without the Zune connected the Zune software runs fine (well as good as it gets

) but when either the Zune device is connected or if I open the Zune software with the device already connected the Zune software immediately crashes.

Hello, great program, I love the idea of being able to use WMP11 instead of the crappy Zune software.
I got the Zune unlocked and have synced some music to it once. Once I disconnected the Zune and reconnected, it wasn't able to sync. I assume this is because you have to unlock it every time you connect it. What is the exact process for reconnecting the Zune to WMP? When I plug the Zune in, the Zune software does not launch (which I assume is because its not associated with the Zune software anymore). If I open the Zune software manually with the Zune connected, it does not see the Zune. So how do I tell the Zune software to sync with the Zune so that I can end the process, making zAlternator work? Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way, but I don't get it.

Beoren, try uninstalling with UnZoone, and reinstalling. Yes, the device needs to be unlocked every time.

Beoren, also you should set the zAlternator back to Zune(default) so the zune software can recognize it again.

Just because WMP recognizes your zune doesn't mean it's unlocked. You need to have the "Syncing" screen.

I cannot seem to get ZAlternator and Vista Ultimate 64bit to work AT ALL. When I change modes using ZAlternator, I know it's working because the Zune software doesn't recognize my Zune connected anymore but neither does anything else (WMP, Winamp,Itunes, or Media Monkey).

Anyone know how to get it to work on Vista 64bit?

I just found out another interesting result of this new sync. I had deleted everything from my Zune and resynced everything with WMP (the tags are more accurate from WMP, mostly the cover art.) Anyway, I am also a longtime fan of LastFM and uses Zenses to submit the tracks from my Zune. I hadn't submitted since last weekend, and did the zAlternator on Tuesday. So after I resynced my songs, a few thousand I guess, the play counts from WMP were recognized by Zenses...giving me over 29,000 songs to submit to LastFM!!!! To put this in perspective, it's taken me 2 1/2 years to log 100,000 songs on LastFM and I listen to music everyday. I did remove the tracks from Zenses so my counts will still be accurate, though a few hundred got submitted before I caught the snafu.

My logging rate is about 25,000 songs per 6 months so I'm missing out on a lot of scrobbling as well right now.

It was me. I was too slow on the trigger and kept missing the sync screen. I finally got it right and now WMP11 and ZUNE 80 are talking. The only problem I seem to have now is that while WMP says its done and I can unhook the Zune, the Zune still says syncing.... Whats a hacker to do?

I also tried your new zSuite but it, and I, can't seem to locate the mentioned dll file. I did a windows search, even in hidden and system files and came up blank. I've also done a quick search on this board and while I see a lot of other people with the same problem, I don't see the file. Just point me to the right thread and I'll figure it out.

Having more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Thanks!
