ok i think i'm doing this correctly.

1. i run zune and sync a video
2. i end the process while its syncing
3. my zune is stuck on the syncing... screan
4. i run zAlt and change the default thing to the generic WPD
5. i run my winamp and try to sync but it just stays on "loading zune"

after it stays on loading zune for like a minute my winamp crashes..

am i doing something wrong?

Winamp support is still on the fritz. This is a known issue and if Pity feels the need, he can look into it. Might I suggest MediaMonkey? See my sig.

this is how i got it to work

dont sync a video:

1 disconnect zune
2 open zalternator
3 open zune software
4 open task manager> click Process tab
5 click zune process in task manager
6 click end process, but do not click yes
7 now plug your zune in and when it starts saying syncing, click yes to end the zune process.
8 in zalternator select generic WPD and hit apply
9 open up your program of choice
10 enjoy

In essence, that's the same way, but yours relies on automatic sync coming into play. Thanks for the method, but it might be a little more confusion then it's worth

Great piece of software. Good job Pity, now get it to work on iTunes

By the way, everyone wants it to work there because it's more organized and is like the first Zune Software(not a bitch). And it runs faster.

It is not possible to change sync settings at this time. Try again later.

I tried reconnecting and rebooting but it hasn't gone away yet.

Don't those have DRM? Changes are you're not going to be able to decode it on the Zune.

I am unable to download zAlternator. This forum does not allow me to download from your links. Can you provide another link? Thanks.

Does any one know why this board does not allow the download links to work? I am unable to get the zAlternator program from any of the provided links. The moderator tells me that you have to first post who knows how many messages before you are allowed to download. I never heard anything so stupid. He could not tell me how many "posts" I need to make, so I need to pester the heck out of you until I am allowed to download... Who dreamed this stuff up? Do they have a clue?

Funny it says that my profile has 10 posts and 1 download. I have yet to download a single thing from this horrible board. I hope some one can post information about the zAlternator out there on the real Internet. The Zune software is really lacking, and I cannot wait to unlock my Zune so I can use it with WinAmp. Thanks to the developer in advance. Cheers!

One last thing before I go. The download is being blocked because it contains the trojan "Adload.BT" according to McAfee. Beware everyone. I take back my thanks to the developer...

Thanks, this may just save me from eBaying my Zune and buying an iPod. MM successfully converted some incompatible formats which was my primary complaint about the Zune software. Not to be picky, but ya'll think there is any chance of eventually by-passing the manual unlock (force-sync) trick?

so Everything works fine i get my videos synced and they are on my zune, But They disappear from my zune and its library, WTF please help

does not work with winamp 5.5

I followed all the instructions, I read and read and read. Its not as simple as people say. The program successfully changes the service type but winamp 5.5 crashes every time. It sees the device loads it then immediately crashes. Yes I unlock it every time. Your directions for unlocking are very confusing. Some screen shots might be helpful.

ok I need your help on something else. I use videora for converting mp4's and I just put everything highest quality and I get around 1gb and my friend said he got the same movie around 700mb. what I would like to know is that I am getting anything for putting it highest quality? Or am I just wasting lots of space for nothing on my zune? I use these videos for tv out on my zune

here are the specs:

ok look my friend downloaded the 700mb movie and I converted mine and he said they both look the same. Then whats the difference with 1gb one why is it more? I convert from 700mb avi to 1gb avi does that sound right? PLease help im just a noob
