hey guys im having a problem with getting it work in winamp. I unlocked it successfully and after starting up winamp, it detects my zune under Portable Devices and then winamp shuts down shortly with no error msg at all. Anyone have an idea? thanks, ive been waiting for a solution like this for quite awhile!
I can't get iTunes to work at all... I can get it to appear in WPM11 so I know I'm "unlocking" it correctly. But when I do the same thing, it just won't open in iTunes.

I can't get it to recognize with anything. I think I unlocked it successfully because the Zune software won't recognize it.
I ran everything as administrator just in case...but to no avail.

NVM I got it. But now when I click FINISH to renaming the Device in WMP it gives me this.
"Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct."
It has the same name already there from the Zune software, and that's how I'm leaving it.
---
& When I click cancel and try to sync it gives me the same message. It gives me this error code: C00D11D2
I'm trying it right now with Winamp 5.11, and it will recognize the Zune (using Generic WPD), but it will apparently fail to load/interface with it correctly. Winamp holds at "Loading Chris..." under "Portables" for about a minute, and then erases it from the list.
I've done the "View like HD" hack. Would that affect it? I'll do some more experimenting later on when I've got some time.
Brilliant work, PityOnU. I love the Zune but can't stand the software.. if I can get this to work with Winamp I'll be very, very happy
ok... I just tried it out. Once "unlocking" it, I was able to connect with MediaMonkey. Close MM. Start it again. Connects! Started the Zune Software, closed it. Opened MM again. Connects!
I'm pretty sure that it will reset itself upon reboot, but it looks like only one "unlock" action is required per boot. If that is the case... this is EXCELLENT! (since I typically only reboot my system once every 2 weeks or so)

The problem you are having is that you are not UNLOCKING THE DEVICE properly. You do not need to unlock the device to see it in other programs, you need to unlock it to sync with it.

Sounds like the same thing as above. The problem you are having is that you are not UNLOCKING THE DEVICE properly.

Same as above. You do not need to unlock the device to see it in other programs, you need to unlock it to sync with it. Try unlocking it, disconnecting it, and then hooking it back up. You'll see what I mean.
so far Im seeing no luck in Vista x64, It is unlocking the zune, to the point the zune software wont work with it, But then no other player can pick it up at all... Once I re-lock it to the zune software, it picks up just fine there...

Hey, me too! It would be great to get this fixed. Wow, this stupid Zune has been soooo problematic. I'll probably just sell it for an iPod..Darn, I wish I could actually use the freaking thing.
Edit: Forgot, now I can't even sync with Zune, wmp11 or anything. Its a useless blob of buggy, ******ed machinery fit to have gasoline poured over, which is about what my frustration level.
