Hmm...for some reason zalternator keeps reverting to Zune when I hit the apply button (go thru the process-syncing, end process, then change to generic wpd, but when I hit apply, the current service provider stays on zune, and the desired service provider flips back to zune as well...any ideas?

When I launch zAlternator what I see in the righthand side where my Zune should be listed it's already populated with device listings 1 through 6 (all with firmware 1-1.4 only) and other device listings that appear to be Zune serial numbers (?). I connect my Zune but it doesn't appear, how do I get the zAlternator to recognize my Zune, which is running firmware v2.3? I'm running WinXP Pro SP2 and have turned off all other programs, and yes I do have the HDHack installed. I really want to use my Zune with Media Monkey and get away from the Zune software.

Thanks for anyones assistance.

I'm considering trying this but I have one question: will this sync Podcasts through Mediamonkey to Zune?

Hey guys,

I tried this, but when it was initiailly synced with WMP 11, I accidentally disconnected the Zune. Now it will not sync with WMP 11 as I keep getting the error about WMP not finding the files and I cannot change the setting back to sync with Zune software. Basically, the device is no longer syncing with anything on my comp. I also tried restarting the comp, but it didn't reset. Is there any way I can reset the Zune and sync it again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, make sure the genre is set to podcast.

Open up zAlt and apply the settings again.

Ok, nevermind....I just uninstalled the Zune software using Unzoone and reinstalled it. It fixed the syncing problem. Now I just have to learn how to follow directions and not pull the plug when I'm not supposed to.

EDIT:
I also forgot to run zAlt under "Run as Admin"; so that was giving me problems. Thanks for the help. Hack works great...really appreciate the effort. Its awesome to use WMP 11 to manage stuff on my Zune.

How do you reset it back to sync with Zune?

I removed videos that came with my Zune8 and they still appear in the Zune as blank. I want to figure out how to remove them completely...hoping the Zune software would work.

I removed these videos under windows media player 11.

Everything else worked perfectly though - removing songs, images, adding songs, etc. under wmp11. I haven't added images or video yet - I wonder if they'll be resized through wmp11 or not.

Also can you wirelessly sync with wmp11 maybe? I guess not.
May just stick with zune's software - that wireless sync is pretty sweet despite the fact it's a little slower.

i have gotten the zune to show up in both wmp11 and mm but i cant sync songs from either of those i want to manually sync and not risk losing anything on my zune that isnt on my computer

so damn sick of my zune software. If I perform the unlock, does it permanently unlock the zune to behave like a HD with all computers?

Zune software has been killing me. I could go on for hours about how this software was the worst thing to happen to zune but everyone already knows that.

Is any of this going to work if I did the new firmware to 2.5 or am I wasting my time.

If I'm not wasting my time then I am totally unable to do this then. Help would be awesome. Thanks.

I wold recommend that you all download zSuite. It was meant to be a follow-up to zAlternator, which was a beta to see if the idea I had actually wored. Plus, zSuite coes with help files that would answer a lot of your questions.
