Default XP End of Life Approaching!

I have heard rumors that there are some people out there who actually want us
to continue to distribute and support XP. Can any of you guys believe that?
Being the open minded guy I am, I just wanted to know what you Zuners thought.

I'm pretty sure XP support will already continue for quite a while. As it should. Unless you have a specific need for Vista, XP is better IMHO.

cut support and add a nag screen to every xp user that pops up randomly during use of the system that says upgrade to vista, and make it so we have to click 27 times, each click EXACTLY 1 second apart, to get the nag screen to go away.
i would be in (L)

The problem with vista is that it requires much more prosseser, ram, video EVERYTHING to be just as fast as a computer far cheaper that runs on XP.

Does anybody here read engadget/gizmodo? You should start... XP EOL is June 30th this year except for OLPC and a few other subnotes.

There's no such thing has x64 either if we want to be technical. It's x86-64, and there was a 64 bit version of XP too.

I can believe it too, though support for XP ending is also believeable too.
Vista is cool I have seen it in action on my sisters laptop.
So when I get my new laptop later on this year or early next year it will most likely have Vista because I do not wan't to fight WWIII just to try and get XP.
I think some of you say that Vista is bad because you all still use machines that can't handle Vista instead of newer computers that was made to deal with Vista.
Or maybe not.

Actually leaving the fake personas behind and being yourself is a hindrance to decent thread conversation.

Plus, Steve (even a fake one) can spell better than that.

All these problems with XP and Vista were there and just as present when XP came out to replace Windows 2000. Instead of remaining more NT based like 2000, Microsoft went more 98-arch causing quite a commotion with people. XP was made for older hardware and so it WILL run faster than Vista on older hardware. That is a given. Yet, are we supposed to remain in the past and never move forward? Are we that controlled by old hardware?

Vista has the User Access Control that pops up asking if you want to do this or that. It can be turned off in the Control Panel>Users section. Can you do that Linux? Not as easy and Linux always ask you for what? Permission, before you do system things like installing, etc. Or do we ignore the screen that pops up asking for root or user password before it execute the action?

Vista has dynamic RAM usage, for too long Windows has been an OS that never shifted out of first gear instead it only used partial amounts of RAM you had. Vista gets out of first gear but can also shift gears to send more RAM where it is needed.

When XP was released the latest hardware was what?

Pentium II? III? IV? Speed was what? It was clearly a single core. 1gb of RAM was enormous now 4gb is quickly becoming the norm. Serial ATAor was it IDE?

Fake Steve Ballmer can try to use all the satire he wants to attack a new Operating System but fails to see that satire doesn't quite work in a sensible argument. Good for laughs but not in the realm of actual logical technological debate.

I can already see the people now complaining about Windows Cienna (7) and how Vista is better.

Hardware advances, shouldn't software advance too?

he's not attacking Vista, he's attacking XP saying that it's holding back the growth and adoption of Vista.

i think you're a little backwards there... F.S.B. is pro-vista.

Actually, the codename at Microsoft is Windows Vienna. Not too important, but since you missed it (or just made a typo) I thought I'd correct you.

Also, the MAIN reason Vista is under so much heat is because of all the control Microsoft gets over you in it with Windows DRM. Plus, games I've noticed in there seem to be slower than in XP because of Superfetch. Most people look at Vista and just say," It's just XP with eyecandy, and control for Microsoft, and less control for the end user."

That's why it's not that people can't handle Vista with their computer hardware, it's just that they don't want to upgrade because it does that.

Note: Don't say I'm defending Vista, I'm just stating why people don't like it without turning into an ******* like I usually do.
