Smile jesus christ this new zune software is complete trash

it strikes me as complete negligence on microsoft's part. I honestly can't name one single positive thing about this crap other than it looks pretty.

the former software I was using before I decided yesterday to click that "check for updates" button was superb.

  • the ui was easy to navigate
  • it had an amazing real-time search feature that worked exactly like winamp's amazing jump-to dialogue
  • with its sync tab, I could see exactly what was being put onto my zune, or what my zune was putting on my computer
  • I could stop it at any time and would know exactly where it was when I stopped it
  • when searching, I could have the entire window specifically looking through just songs, just albums, or just artists, what ever I had specified
  • the zune did absolutely nothing I didn't tell it to do
  • the zune market (which I never use and never ever have any intention of using) was kept away and barely even noticable
  • if I needed to add album art, I could GIS the album, copy it, and paste it directly onto the album without having to save it
  • the old software seemed to understand that had I had copied an album with various creditted artists, not to split the album into 25 separate albums, with 1 album per artist (seriously, wtf?)
  • I had complete control over my Zune and my collection of music

I spent 6 hours this morning reorganizing all of my music into very specific, neat, thoroughly documented folders for the sole purpose of perhaps adding / making my own album covers to every piece of music I own so I could get the most out of my zune. god, so much using mp3tag and flash renamer, all for this and just to find that it was all for naught. on the upside, it is something I needed to do for years, and it will make backing my music up much easier, but the new software saw to make my effort in vain for my zune.

and just to be clear, the first thing I did when I installed the new software was tell it "let me manage syncing" on music, pictures, everything. I also removed every single folder in its watch list.

I can honestly say with 100% honesty that if this were the software that I were forced to use when I first purchased my zune, I would have trashed it and gotten my money back in full. the old software was delightful and user friendly, but this has taken all control out of my hands.

and the best part is, I found a link to old zune software that I immediately downloaded, just to have my Zune (whose firmware is current) tell me to upgrade the software and try again.

microsoft completely screwed us by releashing this shoddy, untested, incomplete software. but please excuse my long rant, as I haven't had any way to vent other than this. could anyone mayhap point me some place with directions to how I can roll back my firmware?? or is my former beloved zune to be throw in the trash.

You just need to learn the software, its easy after you know where everything is.

PS: Follow the downgrade instructions.

I made sure with mp3tag that they all had the same Album name so they'd be in one list, but as it is a movie soundtrack, they have different artists - this is also how it appears when copied to tha zune

After fixing your tags, run the media reset tool.

And don't spam like you did, if you want to be able to post images, make quality posts, thank you.

Did you change the setting that tells the software to update tags automatically?

Well that's unfortunate, I'm sorry you've had a bad experience.
