Firefox 3.6 Beta Available For Download

Mozilla adds a number of improvements, including fullscreen playback.

by Chris Iaquinta

November 3, 2009 - Last week Mozilla finally announced the much hyped release of the first beta for Firefox 3.6, codenamed Namoroka, which is serving as a substantial upgrade from the previous version and includes a number of new features, improvements and performance upgrades. The final edition of Firefox 3.6 is expected out sometime next year, but in the mean time the gurus over at Ars Technica have put the beta through its paces to let everyone know what to expect from the update.

Technica reports that since the original alpha release of Firefox 3.6, which included performance enhancements designed to boost JavaScript speed and WebKit gradients, the beta version has continued to add on updates such as video poster frames and fullscreen playback.

Advanced mobile browsing takes center stage with the introduction of a new event handler dubbed MozOrientation, which makes it possible for webpages to go through JavaScript to access device accelerometer data. Another official addition is the Personas project, which are themes that enables users to apply images and colors to the browsers tabs and toolbars, providing a wide range of visual experimentation.

Mozilla is already encouraging add-on developers to start working on 3.6 compatibility, plus they've also introduced a compatibility-reporting tool that lets users identify and report add-ons that aren't working as they should.

Want to take it for a test drive of your own? You can get the 3.6 beta straight off the Mozilla website.

I posted this in the technology section because im not sure if this would be more zunish or techish im saying both. Anyways i was doing some late late Night internet surfing and stumbled upon something about nvidias tegra 2 which doubles tegras current performance. Im thinking a new zune in late 2010 that is once they crunch the sales numbers for the current model makes perfect sense. Would you guys buy a zune hd 2.0 or would it be a waste of time to even produce something like that, knowing that the current zune hd has only a handful of games(in other words still very young). The new chip is said to easily produce 1080P video quality. What if apple got their hands on this?

Any VZW customers out there planning on getting the Droid? I'm still not positive but I'm thinking about it. I just got done reading the Engadget Review. Verizon has always been the Best Network with The Worst Phones.

They always cripple the phones with Custom UI and features. It never really bothered me since I don't do much other then Talk, Message and use the Alarm in the morning. But this thing is actually kinda secksi. It runs Android 2.0 the $200 price point isn't bad at all.

Side Note~~ The VZW Road Side Assistance for $3 a month is totally worth it.

I'm surprised no one has talked about this, but Apple is trying to get ahead of MS by releasing the world's first multitouch mouse called the "Magic Mouse".

Honestly in my opinion, it looks nice and it seems like a good idea, but I still want to test it out before I buy it for my laptop (see bottom paragraph) or even say it's "good" or "great." After all it is an Apple product... I'm not sure this thing warrants $69 (or $200 on eBay as I saw the day it came out) even if it uses Bluetooth.

Anyways, read and discuss.

Apple's Magic Mouse: one button, multitouch gestures, Bluetooth, four-month battery life

Also does anyone know if it this thing has drivers for the PC? Some Apple products do (Keyboard, ****ty...err..Mighty Mouse, etc.) and I'm interested in trying it out.

With all the talk about Windows 7, the ZuneHD, the constant thought of why the old zunes were discontinued, everyone seems to have forgotten about the new Microsoft stores they announced quite a while ago. Well, the first one finally opened up yesterday for the Windows 7 launch in Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall. That's in Arizona(Lucky). Hit up Gizmodo for more pictures and a walk-in tour. Microsoft, you better open one up soon in New York City and hire me or else.
