<!> [G] Balloon Fight ZHD v1.1 FINAL (Released 5/25/10)
Final release version (1.1) of Balloon Fight ZHD! No more work will be done on the Zune version of this game. I'm still interested in graphics help for a paid Windows Mobile 7 version!
Version 1.1 Bug Fixes
* Due to popular request, the two-touch pause system has been replaced by an actual pause button. For the record, I think it's obtrusive and prefer the two-touch method I tried to make it as small as possible, and hopefully out of the way (top-middle) enough to prevent accidental touches.
* Fixed a bug where if an enemy falls into the water at the edge of the screen, it wouldn't spawn a bubble or life balloon and the level would never end
* Changed enemy behavior to stop tracking the player when the player is falling into the water. Enemies now resume a random flight pattern. This helps some of the "spawn camping" problems that can happen.
* In addition, player is now invulnerable for 1.5 seconds after re-spawning to further help any spawn camping scenarios
* In the bonus level, you no longer lose points for balloons that escape out of the top of the screen
* A few minor tweaks to physics properties
Features:
* Improved physics engine, thanks to the excellent Farseer Physics Engine.
* Better enemy AI and general flight behavior
* New gameplay elements including enemy parachutes, lightning bolts, spinners, 1UPs and more
* 15 levels
* bonus level with balloon mini-game that launches every 3rd level
* High score tracking
HAHA! I love it when new games come out! And when they are well made, I am even more excited. This game is great and the updates will make it even better.

Don't worry what people think... they don't do it often.
I've asked in online forums before for any artist out there that would be interested in helping me create new sprites...I'd rather not use these original nintendo ones. If anyone is interested please let me know.
Thought because of the old school look, it would suck. Boy I was wrong, so fun and addicting. I wish it was like Mario, with a story mode. In which you could comeback to any of the levels you beat. It would also be good, if you could change the name and graphics, so you don't get sued. And then submit the game to Microsoft and if they like they might put it in the app store. And then they could give you the Wifi Api's and you could make a 2 player mode. Where two or more Zune's are close to each other and you try to pop each other's ballons!
Damn you Visual Studio 2010 and your inability to work with XNA 3.1, I reinstalled Xp on my laptop and was planning on just waiting for compatibility but I really want to test this out so I guess I'll be installing C# 2008 Express.

@Crm - Yes I realize it is pretty easy at this point. Remember it's just an alpha release....a prototype really, since it is my first try at game programming and wanted to gauge interest. I am really enjoying learning about all this though, so I'm actually in the middle of rebuilding it from the ground up and will make sure that the difficulty is more appropriate.
@JamesC - The source of this alpha version is...well not good. As mentioned above, I'm rebuilding it completely right now. At some point I'll release the source.

Just wanted to give an update here on the progress of Balloon Fight zHD. The version that's out there was my first foray into game and XNA programming. I've been re-writing the whole thing from scratch since I learned so much from the first go around. Here is a list of improvements and new features in the next version that will be out hopefully in about a week!

Will you also be getting the original soundtrack as well, including the bonus balloon stage at the end of like every 20 or so?
I think the bonus balloon stage is that mini-game I mentioned, where you collect balloons that are shot out of tubes. That occurs every 3 levels, not 20. I'm planning on this but not for the next release. It'll be in the final version though.
As for the soundtrack, I haven't decided. I may include some sound effects, but I don't know about playing music. What if you would rather listen to music from your library while playing?
