my friend suggested i make something like this, i had no ideas of its destructive force. It makes a few high pitch sine waves (9 to be exact) and you get to listen to them, as the timer counts up, your score gets higher. how long can you last?
Note: after you tap to tend, the sound may continue for 1 seconds, this is do to the sound file.
Warning, This may cause Migraines, headaches and a ringing in the ear, i have also noticed, that when you turn the sound off, it sounds like its still there (like 2 minutes later) so be careful, and use at your own risk!

You should be able to terminate the sound immediately using the SoundEffectInstance object that you get back when you start playing a sound. When someone wants to stop the pain, it would be a good idea to stop it right away.
Also, have you considered open-sourcing your apps? I've noticed all but 1 are closed source. I'll spare you all the reasons why open source is a good idea, but there's plenty of them listed in the developer preflight checklist in this forum.
For people like me, who are restricted in hearing and have to live with a constant tinnitus, this sounds so stupid... how can you damage your ears knowingly? I don't understand this
I would give a lot for healthy ears....
Away from that its nice to see people developing for the Zune *lol*

sorry to hear that about your ears, but alot of people think of it as a test of who can do it the longest, a proof of pain tolerance lol.

While I don't presume to criticize people who can code and produce a piece of software like this, I am frankly a little unnerved by a program that could directly cause hearing loss when used on a device that is specifically designed to be used for audio content.
It is quite one thing for Audiosurf to warn that flashing graphics may be harmful to a small number of users with a pre-existing condition but a lame warning that using this app might damage someone's hearing irreparably?.
Sorry to be a hard-a$%, but even the author thinks the game value of this software is questionable.
Being able to control the sound seems like a great exercise for creating a more developed piece of software, but I question it being posted.
As a music teacher and musician who values my ears and hopes my students will treasure theirs as well...Just my 2 cents worth.

Pain is your body's way of saying something is wrong. Being able to simply ignore that pain is actually the danger of this exercise.
With news of a woman who drank too much water in a contest and literally poisoned herself, it becomes obvious that these are not just nice little hijinks or fun little exercises. You are talking about physical damage that could have far reaching consequences in later life.
If I play my Zune too loud and fry my ears, my bad. And while I realize that downloading the app is my own lookout, to engage in an activity at the urging of others using a program posted on a controlled public forum might run into a legal tangle as well.
Again, just a thought.

Reason: merged consecutive
I don't think this will cause hearing loss, as it max frequency is 15KHS, while it is quite annoying and does cause migraines i am pretty sure it cannot cause permenant damge, unless prolonged exposure is occurring.

Isn't the goal of the game to achieve "prolonged exposure?"

Also, what people put into their ears is their business. While I do agree that this is a retarded app, going on about "[engaging] in an activity at the urging of others using a program" is just self-righteous BS.

Ouch.

If there are warnings that tell you there could be possible hearing loss then you use it at your own risk. So all of you that can't figure this out quit complaining.
