Default <!> [G] LightCycles

I ported my game Lightcycles to the zune HD. Basically same as the last normal zune release, but played with touch screen and multiplayer is disabled.

Here is the original posting of the game from so long ago: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/dow...ghtcycles.html

Video here to make it easier (From older prototype version, looks and plays much better on the system)

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

I believe this is the first real game on the zune HD (not sure), but I am 99% sure it is still the only true 3d game on the zune platform.

Controls: (probably easily breakable)
Left side of screen: turn left
Right side of screen: turn right
Bottom of screen: scroll down/hold to break
Top of screen: scroll up/hold to boost
Double touch anywhere: Change viewpoint

Hope this is an ok place to post this....the forums have become a lot more confusing since I was last here

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/47046/Lig...ne%20HD.ccgame

Thanks!

Please post if you download and enjoy the game. I will probably continue working on it (the AI needs help big time, and will try and make wireless once more[and significantly better], but hearing people trying it will make me want to even more. I have no download counter, so I wont really know how many people are downloading sadly.

By the way this ONLY works with the zune HD, if you want to play it on an older zune look at the earlier post

Make sure you have both XNA 3.1 installed and also the zune extensions found here

I believe you need to install XNA 3.1, but I am not sure. What happens when you try and open the .ccgame file I posted?

I would gladly install this on my HD if only I could get XNA 3.1 to install.

Yes the AI is terrible :\ sadly I do not do AI very well at the moment, and all other tron AI seems to be based on a grid as opposed to being float based as mine is. I'll try and improve the AI though sometime in the future (and would love help if anyone has ideas)

well I think it would be better to make the level bigger and make the bikes run faster, also add an option to tilt to where you want to move and put it in the options menu if you make one

Also amp up the GFX a bit because what I was playing was going VERY well on my Zune, still looked good but I think you could make it look better and add in some cool effects.

Also make the top of your line more visable and this will be an amazing game

Also if you do these make the trials fade away after a bit

A lot of that is actually quite difficult to do, the engine can only do wireframes, so really any effects other than an explosion of lines is out of the question. a larger level also decreases the framerate, and faster bikes could be an option in settings. I'm glad you think it is running very well because (shhhhh this is a secret) it isn't . It runs below what most people would call an acceptable FPS, but it still looks and runs fine. Still I plan to look into optimizing it as well later. Graphically though it will probably stay around this look for quite some time. I tried to add bikes that were boxes at one point, but they just looked corny. I might revisit that idea later though.

Oh and to the person with the 2600 error, that has to do with unsafe code that used to be in the game it seems(unsafe just means it used pointers, not that it was actually unsafe to be ran). I took most of it out to fix it before, but I guess I missed one or two. If anyone else has this problem please let me know.

Alright try downloading it again. All traces of unsafe code should be gone, let me know if you still have the problem

It still has the same error.

Well it does it with the other zune game that is posted too. Maybe I should uninstall and reinstall express and xna?

Yea possibly, I haven't tried any other .ccgame files but I made sure this one worked for me. Not sure what problem you're having, but if you would like the source code to try and install it that way send me a pm. Otherwise I'm not sure how to fix that, I think it must be your end :\
