This is a beta release of my game LightCycles. I have been working on and off on this game for a while now but with school slowed progress. I think maybe if I release it into the public I'll have more motivation to work on it further . This is a beta so I am not very happy of it in this state. The single player AI is not very good (playable but not great), Multiplayer works but only if the two zunes are really close, and the UI is pretty terrible right now. I will probably work on the UI next and then multiplayer further. Postive comments are welcome (as are negative if you are so inclined).
On a side note, any programmers that would like to use the 3d engine seen in this game send me a PM or leave me a comment. I will happily release it alone and give a readme if there is a demand.
*EDIT*
Sorry was in a rush before and it slipped my mind to explain how to play. This is a version of the classic tron game for the zune. The goal is to survive and make the enemy(blue line) crash. You die by hitting any wall.
controls:
Play Pause: change view
Direction pad: turn left or right. Press Up to have a short speed boost and back to have a short break
I'll edit if there is anything else that needs clarifying!
*/EDIT*
Hope I didn't forget anything!
Awesome!!!! Tron was a beast. I was wondering when someone would release a version of this game. I love the first person view, it is very unique. The birds eye is like the original game however I think you should add another view that doesnt rotate the screen, more like snake, but overall I am extremely impressed that anyone came out with this game and did it so well +Rep!
The first couple paragraphs explain it pretty well:
Quote:
The vehicles were primarily used in a competition between humanoid computer programs, similar to an old computer game sometimes known as "Surround" or "Dominos". The players are in constant motion on a playfield, creating a wall behind them as they move. If a player hits a wall either by accident or by having no more room to move, he is out of the game, and the last player wins.
In the illustration, two players are racing head to head close to each other. If the blue player turns left, the yellow player will risk hitting the newly created wall. However, it is likely that the yellow player will not hit the wall, but the blue vehicle itself, leading to the destruction of both players.

Cool game, it's a great clone of Tron. +REP, By the way, I would like it if you released the 3d engine, and once I selected a game mode, I could not return to the main menu.
Thanks guys for the comments. Yea Nathan, that's what I meant by the UI needs work I was focusing on getting the game working moreso than usability. Those kind of things should be in the next update. And to xbh1h2, hardware accelerated 3d is not possible. My friend and I figured out a way to software render accurately and not at a terrible framerate. The downside is the engine only works on wireframes, but I still believe there are many possibilities for it. I'm glad you all enjoy it
This is superb! The only thing I would change (like you mentioned) is the enemy AI. Maybe have different difficulty settings because I found it too easy. Otherwise this is defiantly one of the most polished and professional games out there.
Very Nice. I could see this becoming a very stunning game. you could be known as the first person to bring 3D to the zune with a nice game. I like the idea of making a tron game, this version is very playable even though its very early beta. I like your idea here, you can add a figure (wireframe still works) better the ai, make varying diffuculties where the enemy is slow, same speed as you, and fast. Cant wait to teach my buddies how to download C#, XNA and this, so that we can huddle together and play this and make the new table of nerds at our school. there is already a table with kids that play the DS, then there are kids that bring their early cheapo laptops and play Halo on some really crappy processors. We'll be the LightCycle table, and we're the coolest kids in the school, wow, we have zunes and we are the coolest freshman. Sad that one mp3 player defines you
