Help Installing 7zip, which folder do I install it in?
Hey Bolt or anyone else?
I installed the first two programs and I just downloaded the zip proram. But it said the folder was invalid when it came time to designate the path. Does it matter where I put it?
For right now I put it on the desktop.
If you RUN it, you have to install in program files. You can SAVE it on your desktop, so you can run it later. Make sure you run, and install to program files.
I went ahead and deleted the folder that was stored on the desktop. I am just going to try DLing again and choose save instead. Then run it and see if that makes the process of where to put it automatic.
Thanks again Bolt!

OK. I saved it. The wizard to install it worked better, but you still have to browse and select where to put it. So I put it in the program files on drive C. I am crossing my fingers this will work. I am excited to have some new games to play.

Reason: double post, ffr use edit
east cst zip site had incomplete path on it today(i think)
OK i think i have figured out what was wrong (or incomplete).
The 7zip link went to the east dl site. I DL again and tried a mirror site in SEATTLE (west), and the path where the files were to go was was complete. The mirror site worked and had a full pathway on it whereas the east coast DL site did not. I ran it and it went straight into program files. Yeah!
Thanks for the help Bolt. But now I get to pull out more hair trying to install the games. Oh fun! Not!
add:
Oh why when I did quote your post these funny tongue out smiles pop up in your post?

So 7-Zip should be installed at C:Program Files7 Zip (or something like that)
It has to be in C:Program Files. Not just on disk C

Reason: disabled smilies (ffr, the checkbox for doing this is under "miscellaneous options" when you post)
Because : P is a smiley (without the space), and you didn't quite quote my post right.
Let me know if you have any more problems!
Actually, it's a bug in vBulletin where it runs the PHP stripslashes function on everything inside a quote box, meaning that backslashes get dropped unless you manually double them when you quote a post. You can't really expect anyone to realize that you have to do this, especially since it isn't documented anywhere...
