I'd love to see your skin! (o:
to put your pictures up here, Upload them to a site like tinypic.com and once it's uploaded, they will give you a little code that you just copy and paste into a post here. If you use tinypic.com, the code you want will be under "IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards".

can you make it so if you're over a 1 and you've already flagged one of the squares around it then if you press the play button and then the middle button it selects all the squares around it?... kind of hard to explaing but it's in the microsoft pc version.

That's interesting. I never knew about this feature.

This is what the help file says about it:

So if you have a 2 on the screen and you have 2 flags around the 2 and you right-left click on the 2 it will automatically uncover the rest of the mines around the 2 because you assume none of them are mines. I think this could be a pretty handy feature and might help cut down best times if you get the hang of it. The only snag on this feature is that it will only work with the "Revealed tiles can be selected" option selected (for obvious reasons).

I just downloaded the game and it's awesome. I made a skin (instead of smilely faces, theyre skulls.) but the selector is messed up. Whenever I highlight an option, The black of the selector covers the words. It's not a big problem, but it would be nice to fix...

Not quite sure what went wrong, but I'll run you through some troubleshooting...
  • Did you change the selector image? If so, does part of your image overlap with the text? Did you make the open area of the select image transparent?
  • Did you change the font? That could cause some problems...
  • Did you change any of the code?

Ok, I'm going to go with A, I changed the selector image. how do you make it transparent in paint? or if not possible I can do it in gimp. Thanks for the help, I wasn't sure if I forgot to add something, but that sounds like what I did (or didn't do). I'll try to post some pictures when it's fixed. In the meantime, +rep.

You can't do transparency in Paint (as far as I know...) but you can in Gimp. Open your image and if the part you want transparent is all one color you can say "Layer > Transparency > Color to Alpha" and then if you click on the color and change it to the one you are using for the background it will become transparent. You can also say "Layer > Transparency > Add Alpha Channel" and then use the eraser tool to erase your background and make it transparent. (tip: setting the zoom really high and setting the Eraser to "Hard Edge" helps when using this method) Hope that solves your problem!

Thanks, I'll try that right now...

EDIT: And it worked! I had to erase the background color, but it works, and now I'm happy... Now for the music

I just finished version 2.1. The skin support for this version is more streamlined. Instead of having to edit the code if a user wants to add a custom skin, they simply have to add an xml file to their solution. The creator of the skin should supply the xml file, called a "skinfo" (get it? skin info?)

If you want to create a custom skin, there are instructions here, and the application used to create skinfos can be downloaded on the version 2.1 release page.

If you want to use any of the new custom skins, you MUST download version 2.1 of Zune Minesweeper, available here. However, you DO NOT need to download the Skinfo Creator if you do not want to create any custom skins.

I hope this makes the custom skinning process much easier. Thanks for all your feedback! Now I need to get to work on adding that music support...

Edit: Here's a screenshot of the Skinfo Creator:

This really is amazing. You did a wonderful job. I can not think of anything that could be improved other than making it so if the first space that the player selects is a mine, the mine gets moved to another space. Half of the time, the first space that I select when playing a new game has a mine, so I have to start a new game and try again.

This game is awesome!

I only haz one suggestion:
In the computer minesweeper left clicking and right clicking at the same time on a number would reveal all the tiles surrounding it if enough flags have been placed around the original tile (i.e. if you click on a "2" tile, it only reveals the other tiles if two flags have been placed next to it). It would be nice if this Zune version had that feature. It could be activated just by hitting center while selecting a number.

If it is too hard to program such a feature then I understand. But this game would be perfect with that feature.
