sk8er209: umm only problem with that is for those of us with zune 4, 8 and 80's (me), it'd be really hard to control whether you're moving or shooting. For health powerups... well... just wait. I'm gonna make the game a bit more difficult at higher levels before I do that. For the warning: ya, I forgot to reset a variable when you start a new game. it'll display that every time once I get that fixed. For pausing, there isn't any at the moment... I can't figure out what button to use for it! :S
This game is one of the best so far and its only in beta. Well done. Just a few things I noticed. When you die and play again the difficulty is the same and you dont start the level over agian but all your wepon upgrades are gone. This means I die really fast. also if you could make a setting so that you can toggle on or off fire so you dont have to hold donw play. This would make it easier. Anyways thats just my view but over all Its much better than any other 2d shooter we have. thanks
shortstraw4: hmm the difficulty should be reset when you die(I got to about 64000 score and still survived just fine the next time) If you mean that the enemies still come down as fast, that would be because they come down at a constant rate, it's not dependant on anything(uses random numbers). For the toggling, I thought of that but I'm thinking of using the pressing of the play button for how you launch missiles since they are a little too strong right now. Actually this seems to be pretty good since I'm getting a pretty even mixture of people saying it's too hard as say it's too easy. That said, I might move some of these options into other difficulties that you could choose at the start menu to make it harder/easier for people.

The enemy bullets are hard to see.
why I should get into the enemy kill cone when trying to shotdown them ?
Allow the enemy bullets to be fired diagonal, backwards, to the side, etc. it is hard to shotdown the enemy when the *hard to see* bullets are coming towards you in straight line and the closure rate of these bullets is high.
The missiles looks cool and do a fine job in tracking the enemy planes. Good job with that.

ok thanks, that idea of leaving the regular fire on and using play as missiles sounds good i think i got about 90k points then my thumb started aching because i held the play button. but i say this one of the top games so far maybe the best one
Edit: i just played it again and i have to ask is there any way that you could make the firing button the center for everyone with the 30 gigs. and leave the other style for the second generation zunes.
Edit: sorry if i sound like i'm complaning or anything but i'm just doing this to help improve the game the warning for new enemies coming for the following green ships don't show up after the first time they warn u about them.

For pausing it for the 4, 8, and 80 zunes u could use center and if u make a 30 gig version for sk8er209 where center is shoot you could use play for pausing.
hmmm I'm not sure if there's a way to detect which kind of zune is being used, the touch sensative input just isn't activated when someone is using a zune 30 I think... Also, the problem with using the center for anything(unless you have touch enabled) is that as you slide your finger from one side of the pad to the other you go through the center so it'd pause/do whatever when you weren't trying to. Maybe I'll make a menu option to enable pausing and use the center button? We'll see. For new versions, they'll pretty much be coming as I'm able to work on them. At the moment I have finals for this next week and will be away from my computer for 2 weeks after that, so it might be a while before ALL those features are implemented but I'll get them done bit by bit as I'm able. Multiplayer will definitely be something I'll be working on during those 2 weeks since I can use my girlfriend's computer and use her zune to test it. Point being: keep checking back cause as I'm sure everyone has seen, when I do make updates I can get a lot done.

Heres some code to check whether a 1st or 2nd gen zune is being used
New version up. It's now 1.00. I added a new weapon(lasers) which act as kind of a sniping weapon. They will probably seem useless when you first try them but playing with them a little bit I think you'll find they're quite useful if used right Also, it now has a pause menu. Press the center button to pause. This only works on the zune 30's or if you have touch enabled(because otherwise you'd accidentally pause constantly while trying to move), sorry 4, 8 and 80 tactile entusiests, there just aren't enough buttons!Also, that bug where it wouldn't show the new enemy warning for the following ships if you played a second time is fixed. Enjoy
another new version is up, this one 1.10. I added a new enemy for those who get their scores high enough Also, I changed how often you get upgrades and added an upgrade that increases health(the aquamarine upgrade)
