With a new release of the XNA Framework should come a new release of Thrust. And because XNA 3.0 is about unifying the approach to game programming across three platforms (Windows, Zune and Xbox 360), I have also made that the goal behind the new version of Thrust. I have also taken the time to evaluate my other libraries and random sets of code and have created a project called Focused Games Framework. Included in this project is Thrust, Juice and a core set of classes. So much like you reference System.dll for core classes, you reference FocusedGames.dll for the base set of classes I provide. I am also happy to say that a lot of the functionality present in Thrust for Windows is available on the Zune. I have a sample game that has been written using the GUI and State Management classes from Thrust that runs on the Zune.

Note- When using an external library like Thrust on the Zune, please be sure to set "Copy Local" to true for each reference.

You can fix Galaxy Wars 3 to support first generation zunes!!! Just open the Player.cs file, found in:

GW3
+-Entities
+-Player.cs

do a find and replace on the following

find:
Buttons.LeftThumbstickRight

replace with:
Buttons.DPadRight



find:
Buttons.LeftThumbstickLeft

replace with:
Buttons.DPadLeft



find:
Buttons.LeftShoulder

replace with:
Buttons.A



(you could also add OR's to the thumbstick if's in order to make the code zune30 & zune80 compat at same time)

save the file, deploy, adn enjoy

No, if you read that thing, it says powered by Thrust. It's only one game, Galactic Wars 3

I don't know, it happens to me too, I guess it was something the creator forgot to fix.

I can't run it due to something with the software. There are a couple posts about it in the help with runtohell section. The zune solution can't be read, and it says something about some properties associated with the solution can't be opened. I want to play the game, but I ca't and need some help.

i think you have to download some kind of Font thingy... it worked for me, i had the same problem... ask scrapz for the URL to downloading it

just tell it ok. All it cant do is load the windows version, so you should still be able to add the zune one to your device

Let me try to explain a few things, being that I created the game...

It fixes a lot of the issues discussed in this thread. By the way, this game is no where near being completed. Anyways, here are some explanations...

Problems Loading the Solution File
This is because I created it in Visual Studio 2008 Pro, not Express, and used something called Solution Folders. I will include a Solution file for the Express version of C# 2008 in the next update to fix this issue.

Can't Compile Because of Missing Font
I was using Segoe UI for the font in the game. Because Xna requires you to have the font installed to build the game, I have changed the font to Arial in the last update. If you want Segoe UI, you need to get Vista or Office 2007.

An Error Showing the GUID Comes Up When Running
Right click the project and select Deploy, then select run.

Touchy Controls
Again, this was fixed in the latest update. I originally made the game as a quick test of what could be done on the Zune and thus forgot about the issue with the older Zunes. The last update fixes this issue and should play and feel much better.

This Game Sucks!
Well, thank you for trying it at least! I made the game in around 30 minutes. If you do not like the game, please suggest what I can do to improve it! Right now I am tossing around some ideas to make the game harder and to turn it into an actual game with an objective.

What the Heck is this Thrust thing?
Thrust is what I use to create my games. It is a self developed framework similar to the Xna Framework. In essence, it does a lot of the work for me. You are free to use it an modify it yourself. Right now I have builds for both Windows and Zune that have GUI, Font and Input features.


I would just like to say thanks for trying the game out. I never expected this many people to even download it!

Great Update. The game is a lot less buggy. It does however still use touch (I thought it was taken out).
Another way to simply make the game better is having different ships when ou reach a certain score.
