Yes, i have experience. im following a tutorial which is gonna help me do the menu.. errrr.. i mean has helped me do the menu. i'm very good with graphics, i'm getting maya 2009 for my models, and i'm getting a book that will help me along.
And the Templates i've typed here aren't complicated. they make perfect sense if you read them. you have to read them before you say their complicated. and if you don't know whats going on in my game, then i'll edit your character/monster/quest so he fits in.

Titptup.. you need to have faith. I'm not going to read anymore of your stuff if you won't help.
Yes, you're totally right. I should have faith. When I program things, I shouldn't work. I should just have faith that they will magically will be created. And pure gold will flow out of my computer monitor so I can sell it for money. I just need faith. Thanks AFlakjuju, you're getting some rep for that astonishing discovery.

Guys, cool down. Tiptup does have a valiant point- you have to work at things, you can't just expect them to turn out good. Hard work is necessary for anything. And Flak, empty insults like that aren't going to get you anywhere on zB- trust me, I've done it.
Oh, and by the way, that template is time consuming and redundant

Even the simple Punch-Out game I was writing turned out to be hard because I didn't have experience.

I guess that I'll be the first one to have that so-called faith, as I'm wondering how this is going to turn out.
Quest Template:
Name of quest: The Crystal Key
Talk to: Old Widow (I don't really know what the actual name of the guy would be, but I guess that this is an accurate description)
Requirements: A certain level (I'm not sure if there are levels in this, but if there are, level 20?)
What you need to do:
-1. As a random drop from a really strong monster and rare monster, you get a golden heart locket
-2. You take it to town, and you give it to an old widow (It doesn't matter if it's male or female)
-3. The widower says that it used to belong to their beloved spouse before they were mauled to death by the previous monster. Inside, the locket contains the last remaining picture of the departed beloved as all other photographs were destroyed in a fire years ago. The key to open the locket, though, was lost long ago. The widower asks you to keep an eye out for the key so that they can have one final look at their lost love before they die.
-4. You wander around a bit and eventually learn that the key is buried at the spouse's grave from the priest that presided over the funeral. You go to the graveyard and find the said grave.
-5. You dig up the grave and find the key, but the spirits of the dead drag you to the underworld for defiling a grave.
-6. In this secret dungeon, you need to reach the dead spouse and explain to them that you need the key to make the surviving person happy. She gives it to you and lets you leave the underworld.
-7. You open the locket for the person, and he is greeted with the picture of the one that he had always loved. There will probably also be some romantic words written inside (I'm not one for that kind of stuff, so that's for your own imagination)
-8. The person is able to die in peace.
Reward: Access to the underworld dungeon and a golden locket (different locket) as an awesome kind of equip
That's the general sentiment. Get some experience, read some books, THEN undertake something bigass like this.

Hey, lay off of the kid(?). If he wants to try this as his first endeavor, that is his business, and he just may be able to succeed. Yes, constructive criticism is valuable, just as experience is, but this is getting out of hand.
It's getting really close to flaming at this point. It's like you guys (not all) are French kissing with the tongue of flame.
Do you know how low the chance of success is? Just like the guy who tried Pokemon but ditched.

Eh. The chances of his success probably (I'm not too sure; he(?) could take the negative feedback as a challenge to motivate him) increase if you encourage him.
I also have this to say: holy crap! It was the entire forum? I mean, I know that it wouldn't be every single member, but that's still a lot of people, right?
you mean the ENTIRE forum that tried to make pokemon for zune!
Actually Troggy, I was talking about that dude here.
But yeah, DarkZune too. Attempting large projects usually ends in ure.
Unless you're Dirk.

Start on a simple project. My first non-dataflow language took me 1 year 'til I was comfortable enough.
Tutorials are often misunderstood in their purpose, especially in the programming area. I see so many times people thinking they could create Fallout 3 on the Zune just by following tutorials. Use tutorials to learn, the tutorials aren't there to make the game.
I had a project that I used a few, called Musician. Plus, unless you're getting paid to do this or you're magic, it won't work.
That's why many very able developers don't make it very far, they NEED funding if they want money. On Xbox Live Indie Games, the person quit his job to make a game like that.
On tips: read the Dungeons and Dragons Monster Manuals, they can give you ideas, even if you don't play DnD, it still has cool monsters.
I doubt TipTup even cars.
