Hey guys,

A quick update. Title screen is being worked on and polished. We will soon have music / sound effects. Things are going really well. But, i'm shooting for end of July to first week of Aug to be out of Alpha.

is it just me or does it seem like this is going to end up only being released for the computer (based on screen shot size) and probably never released on zune?

no offense just got this gut feeling.

Best guess is that it's just the computer start screen, and that another one is in the works; patience is a virtue.

I'll share something with you to hopefully put your mind at ease. Hopefully somewhat because you still dont know me, or what i'm doing and probably wont believe it until you have it in your hands. Thats fare enough.

But let me tell you how the project is setup.

Both the windows version (WV) and the zune version (ZV) all share the same code files. The only difference is the project file. So as I look at my master solution it holds both WV and ZV projects for Baube Play. Inside the code are compiler tags to let the compiler know that this block of code will only exist in WV or ZV. There is not many of those but there are cases where the they each have specific code.

All textures are created @ 3x Zune display. This is for a few reasons.

1. Those who play on windows expect a larger resolution.
2. The artist doesnt have to worry about loss of detail and is free to make it as detailed as they want (very important)
3. Translation from WV to ZV is so simple a drunk retarded french monkey could do it. All I have to do is tell photo shop to scale all my textures by 66% and I'm done.

Developing on windows is also 10x faster. Sitting and waiting for your application to be transferred to the zune to debug is borderline torture. I can make quick changes and see it immediately when I build it. Almost no waiting at all.

I had a conversation the other day with a girl who was pimping mags door-to-door as she pulled out her zune. We immediately started talking about it.

I am zune guy ... /shrug. Id love to get my hands on a ZuneHD after BP is done and start coding the next version.

yeah, its an unfortunate reality of game development. I've been a member of gamedev.net for years and I have seen so many projects start with the right intentions and then just flizzle out.

A lot of that has been my own exp as well. This however, is the closest I have ever been to completion and by far the most beautiful / featured game I have ever created. There is no way I'm stopping now. haha. I will release this thing even if it kills me.

I try to keep regular updates so you guys know its still being worked on. And yes, I work on it every night. Even if its just one thing I get done...I get something done every night.

Here is some more game play. I've added sound effects ... the way you select gems is now different. Its coming along nicely.

I just played a quick game not really trying, but keeping it short for demonstration purposes.

There appears to be lag in the game that is shown in the video. Its not like this at all during gameplay. I dont have the best computer for recording and it apparently choked on a couple areas.

Looks great! Any planned release date? And will there be a way to turn the sound off. I know I will get annyoed if I have to hear that jingle every time I make a move. Not saying it's bad though, it is AMAZING!

Yes, there will be volume control. I may just turn down that effect its not so annoying. But I was looking at other games and they pretty much do the same thing. I may have a toggle just for that sound as well.

All it takes is coding right? LOL

I have a hard date of Oct 20th as I'm entering it into the Indie Game Challenge. So whatever state its in, thats what its in when I send it off. But man is it close. I will basically be sending the beta into the contest. Being a one man crew sucks. I barely have time for anything. Let alone coding a full demo. haha.
