Default Zune Locked/Unlocked

Is it possible to tell whether the lock/unlock thing at the top is locked or unlocked? If it is, it could be used as another key.

What when you move the Lock tab it locks the Zune with a lock symbol. I doubt it could be used, and if it is it's not in a very practical place.

I think he's referring to accessing it in a game. AFAIK Game.IsActive lets you access the hold switch. Don't forget that your game can't see any input whatsoever when the hold switch is active, which would make it unsuitable for most uses in a game.

Also it seems that Game.IsActive doesn't always update properly, which causes some strange behavior in the games that do use it.

You could use it for a pause feature. Push it in to pause, pull it out to navigate through the menu, and press continue to continue playing.

i think he means in the way its used on hackable ipods, u push hold and un releas it each time and its like a menu. like u push hold, the zune will be on hold but whatever control u put for it will happen, and u just unlock it agin to have the menu or whtever still there and have it unloocked. and from there u use regular buttons, so it would be like a game control, but more opening up a menu or something, which will let you use the back button for other things

That's exactly what I mean.

Idont think thatl work tho, because that hold button thing only works when u hack into the ipod, and zune isnt as simple as an ipod to hack.

The thing is that putting it on hold, would initiate a hardware lock out of the systme, hence no buttons

You can say if holdis longer than 2 seconds show menu, but that would be kind of useless.

This is exactly how Hexic uses it. It's less than intuitive when you want to resume the game or navigate the menu though.

yeh, but if u unhold it immediately after holding it, all buttons would work again and themenu would still be there

edit: yeh texas hold em and hexic have this feature already, so it is possible, its like a pause menu, and u can always just un hold it to acess it

I think he means as in like using it for emulators. Lets say you're out of buttons to pull up the emulator menu. Well just hold/unhold and boom the emulated game will pause and the emulator's main menu will come up.
