Default Custom Music Player

Just wondering if there is an easy way to do the following or if i should write an app that can do it. Also if you know if this is impossible then letting me know before i invest time would be great.

Thanks

Player that does:
Play only unrated/rated songs**
Play only rated good/bad**
Play only music from certain category
Play back to back songs from the same artist (play 2 of 1 artist then move to the next artist)

The ** items are the ones im really after...I need a way to only play songs i like at certain times but without creating playlists which involve some effort. This way i can just click a button and listen to music i like.

Like i said i can write this, i just want to know if there is already an easy method for doing this that i havent heard of yet.

Does anyone know?

Thanks again.

yea, of course there is a way. Make a music library, make a media player, and sift through the songs.

Yep, autoplaylists do this. IN Zune Software go to Collection-Playlists and then click NEW AUTOPLAYLIST on the bottom left

You can set up an auto playlist in the zune software.
and to make the playlist play two of an artist and move on, you can manually change the order of the songs to do that... or you could just all shuffle them.

But there is no way to do this on the player...on the go?

Sounds like there isnt. The reason i wouldnt want to create a playlist is i quickly rate songs at times. I just listen to the first couple seconds until i recognize the song and then i rate it, So i would need to sit down and create a new playlist each day.

The unrated songs is really what im after since i only sync up (or use my home pc) like once a month. But when i do that i usually fill up my zune with new cds and stuff.

Also at times when im riding with my wife in the car i dont want songs i dont like to be played since we are setting it to play and then sitting it down. I dont want to pick it up constantly and go on to the next song.

It sounds like theres no app out there that does this yet... I've already started looking at writting it so maybe when i get some free time ill flesh this out.

You could just use the quicklist and put only the songs that you want to hear in there. Syncing is not needed for that.

Make a music library, make a media player, and shift through the songs.

This is the same this that shutout5591 said. What does this mean. Can you explain it a bit more then that? Are you talking about in the C# code? If so i think i know how to code it...i just havent actually gotten around to doing it.

The quick playlist require you to manually go through songs, thus defeating the purpose of an on the go, random, autoplaylist creator. It wouldnt acutally create the playlist, it would be an in memory play list.....did that make sense?

just one thing: I already asked about something similar, and the downside for that would be that it would only available in the game, which would eat away at the battery life really fast.

That is the best that can be done 'on the go', unless a Zune game is created to do this. What you are asking is too much for what can be currently done easily, so I gave you the next best option.
