I was just thinking, since it's possible to play games with music playing in the background and there are instant messanger programs, would it be possible to create an application to send songs without the 3-day limit, or possibly trick the receiving Zune into not removing it after the time limit?

Can try this, I have not tried it in a very long time, but it should still work.

The 3 days part from the 3 days 3 plays was removed with 2.0 firmware, you can still only listen to the song 3 times but you can keep them forever.
To the thread creator: No, with XNA you are only given access to the media player, not the actual songs, what you can do is stream the music(Create a radio type app that others that are connected to you can listen too, at least i think you can) but you cant actually send songs or receive them as files

That's what I was hoping for: access to the individual songs. I doubt a radio stream would be a good option b/c of power. The constant wi-fi communication to stream wouldn't be good on the battery life. Oh well, it was just an idea. Thanks for the input.

The XNA MediaLibrary is read-only.

I just realized that this would be possible for files not in the library. If the file was deployed to the Zune along with the transfer app (possibly using the RIG platform), it could be sent from Zune to Zune w/o restriction. Furthermore, it would be possible to play received (non-DRM) music in the app, as the Song class supports loading music from files in addition to the MediaLibrary.
