Default Different approach to a web browser (kind of)

Well, this is just an idea, but would it be possible to save webpages with text and pictures (on a computer) and have a program on the zune under games like the book reader to read it so you can look at saved web pages on the zune?

Sort of, but it would be text riddled with html tags plus zero formatting. Really more trouble than it's worth.

I think the idea was to write an HTML engine for the Zune, so you could deploy the pages and view them on the go.

While that would technically be possible, it would be a monumental task and would likely be quite slow. Also, the main point of using the Web on the go is to get the latest up to date info - downloading Web pages in advance kind of defeats the point.

Yeah... It is basically asking: "How about someone write an Internet Explorer clone for the Zune?". It would not be worth the effort that would have to be put into making it.

I'm not saying I'm going to do it (no way), but I think it could (potentionally) be possible. To make a very simple HTML engine. For viewing things like wikipedia and stuff.

I think microsoft could easily add a webbrowser to the zune... but if we were going to spend the time and do it, do we even have the resources and the code to build it?

I'm not talking about a fully fledged html browser.

Just like abillity to display bold, italic, normal text and images with set positions.

Hmm...what if a text reader was extended to support some kind of lightweight markup language, like Markdown?

If someone wants to do that with the Book Reader, they can go ahead. I do not plan on doing it, though.
