Default RIG Deployment Platform: for developers

Quote:
RIG provides a framework for Zune application deployment that frees your game from the development software it was created with, making it possible to extend your applications to a wider audience while simultaneously reducing the technical support burden of previous methods of deployment. RIG eliminates limits on deployment, meaning that the only limits you have to contend with are those of your creativity.

RIG includes support for simultaneous deployment of multiple RIG-deployable applications, enabling the creation of bundles that can install dozens of applications in only a few clicks.

The RIG Development Kit provides RIG binaries, source code, and comprehensive documentation. Download it now and start enhancing your application's reach today.
Adding RIG to your app is quick and painless with the RIG Development Kit. Not only does RIG make it possible for users to deploy your game without having C# or XNA Game Studio installed, it also brings XNA gaming to x64 users.

RIG isn't just for single applications - multi-application bundles have first-class support, too.

RIG website
RIG for developers

Once you have your package together, you can have it added to the RIG application directory. This will help increase exposure to your application and make it clear that your app takes advantage of the RIG platform. To add your package, follow the instructions in the above link.

If you're an end user, check out the information for users.

Major props again here too, I'm glad that I got to see this project develop from what you showed me originally to this. Good job! Things like this are what the social is all about!

DiNoGames,
Why does it say the Running Man version is 0.7?

What do you mean? With 0.5.1 I mean the version of RIG Development Kit.

Running man is still V0.7 like it was weeks ago. I did not change the game, just rigged it.

But on this thread:
http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/dow...nning-man.html
It says version 0.2
So my question is, are they any different? Or is there something I'm missing?
Like you added 0.2 and 0.5.1 and rounded to 0.7?

He probably just forgot to change .2 to .7 in his thread, 0.5.1 is the RIG Deployment version, it has nothing to do with his game

So did he or did he not change anything since 0.2?

RIG is pretty cool. My only bit of advice to developers is do not include the XNA DLL files in your package. Putting those in there instantly violates the EULA. As long as you don't, you should be good. I know this ruins some of the appeal of the tool (because now your users will have had to install the dev tools at some point to get that runtime), but thems are the rules of the EULA.

Hopefully in the rigged version there is nothing changed! I scrambled the assembly.cs files somehow. Of course I've been working on Running Man, but there is nothing I want to show publicly yet. There are boobytraps, jeeps and bridges already in the game, but I still have to do some more work on it. So basically the rigged version should be equal to the download version in the Running Man thread.

all know is you could deploy games in the zune without opening your xna studio software.

i think xna limited things in games like the max audio while ingame and other stuff. does this remove limitations?

No, it just lets you install games without xna, everything else is the same

..... plus the developers do not need to "open source" their projects. RIG does not need the source to deploy the games.

That is a really good plus, too.

Do keep in mind that you don't really need source to deploy anyway: Nick’s Code » Blog Archive » Releasing Zune Games Sans Source. What RIG brings is the ability to deploy without installing 700+MB of developer tools. However since the user needs to have the XNA runtime on the Zune, they likely have already installed the developer tools anyway, making RIG not such a big thing, in my opinion.
