Default zBook Reader [Proposed]

Zune Applet: zBook Reader
Creator: CanusCerebus
Version: XNA 3.0 CTP
Description: Either a front end to the jpg files created by the zBooker program OR a standalone reader which reads a different format, probably text or rich text embedded in a jpg or mp3 (since we can't sync .txt or .rtf files to our Zunes).
URL: ...
Screenshots: When I have them...

Any one interested? I may just build this for my own use, but if there are folks out there who would be interested in seeing and using such a thing I'd be happy to make it publicly available.

I'm interested. Even if you don't gain a lot of interest here I would still like a copy of it if you could figure it out.

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.[/

It would be interesting, but the program that takes .txt files and makes them perfectly sized pictures for the zune is already pretty flawless and fast, the only way I could see this having and advantage was if you we're able to directly copy .txt files to the Zune and view them, which as you already stated can't be done.

As you said embed it into a mp3, wouldn't the zune detect that? That could also be a security flaw if found working.

Couldnt you rename a .pdf to .mp3 lmfao...haha kidding, dont' have my zune.

sounds like a good concept, though as already stated, would be difficult to do. It would be an alternitive to those that don't have zbooker.

Its definitely not impossible. And syncing a file like a .txt is fine you just have to tell the XNA not to "build" it but use it as content. I haven't ran into any problems with putting it on there but I'm having a few problems getting a display to happen.

I'm still working on this, btw.

I've decided to use xml as the format for the book docs and then an set of xsl docs for specifying display formats. This should make it easier to extend and enhance the reader. I also plan to create a desktop editor/converter to be used to generate the xml files.
I've got the xsl transform working in a standard .Net app, now I'm working on porting it to an XNA project and extending it form there. Maybe I'll use zBlade as a base for the user interface. I'll need to contact zBlade's owner/author first though.
