I've had it!

I am done with Zune. I am a Microsoft employee in Redmond, WA, so I'm not anti-Microsoft in any way.

Zune came in to our company store last week. Me, being a huge iPod lover, decided...what the hell...I'll pick up a Zune and try it out .

I took it home, all excited to try it out for the first time. "I'll just install the software, and see what possibilities the Zune has", I thought to myself.

"What?!?!?!, an installation error???"

Yes...I too have the dreaded fate of not being able to install the software on my Windows XP SP2 machine (NO, IT'S NOT RUNNING MEDIA CENTER).
Yeah, I've been on the phone for over 2 hours and am now at Tier 3 support. My question is.....WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? You can't tell me that they didn't run into this problem while they were testing. But typically, let's just release the product NOW since it's the holiday season. We couldn't possibly hold off and release a product that is compatible with Windows Vista (which has already RTM'd), or Media Center (for God's sake...seriously....who owns a media center PC that wouldn't be interested in a Zune???)
OK....I'm venting....but for good reason. I love this website, I love the advice, and I love the possibilities for Zune. I would bet that by the third generation, it will be better than the iPod. I truly believe that. However, this problem I am having is unacceptable....PERIOD. I've tried everything that has been offered on this site with no luck, and I'm growing more and more tired of finding a solution when my iPod works flawlessly.
I wouldn't doubt if this gets modded, but I felt I just needed to speak my mind. I have worked over 8 hours to try and make this work, and I am finally about to concede. I'm glad you guys are so pumped about Zune and its' possibilities, but when I can't even begin to start playing with it...I feel very disheartened.

Thanks for reading my banter. I'm sorry for being so negative, but if you were in my position...you would feel the same way. For those that can...ENJOY ZUNE!

I hope you are right Cactus. I may have been a little too eager to vent tonight, but I am extremely frustrated. I have generally had bad luck with my company's products (I went through 2 Xbox's, I'm on my 2nd 360, and my Comcast DVR running MS software has always struggled). I don't work for any of these product groups, and NO, I'm not stupid enough to give you my alias or work division. If you don't believe me, then I don't want to talk to you anyways. I look forward to the day when I can finally get my Zune to work, so therefore I can contribute more to this site than just my anger.

my zune has been pissing me off all week... i'm tempted to switch back to ipod 5.5 but i may wait till 6g comes out. i may switch back to zune once the bugs are worked out and awesome hax are out there, but this thing is killing me : (

Just a quick update...I was on the phone with Tier 3 support for another hour yesterday. They thought they had come up with a fix (changing how the computer boots up in winconfig) No luck. Still waiting on a miracle so that I can finally start playing with my Zune.

2. what usb devices do you have pluged into your computer?

i feel like the only one that got this installed with no problems at all.
