Default New Forum

As per jmslew's request, we're going to add a computer related forum, but we wanted to know what you guys all thought of it.

And maybe, to make it fair, a Mac forum? They could be combined, but if they are, there should be rules for no bashing of either in that section, and all "flaming posts" should stay in the already posted "flame board". Also, when I get new products (like my HP, which just shipped Saturday, 20 days ahead of the estimated build date woohoo!), I like to document and review products. I would be more than willing and happy to contribute and post these 'reviews/experiences' in the section.

We can't stop people from flaming, but when they do I'll be there to deliver swift and painful punishment.

I was thinking:

Help and Technical
-PC

All general 'help' threads would just be in the H&T forum itself, and all threads falling under one of the computer forums would go there.

So what do you guys think?

We need the members feedback. Do you want to add it? Or not?

If you do, just say "yes".
If you don't, just say "no".

Thanks

Cool man, thanks for supporting it. I'm sure you're going to be a usual in the section if/when it's made.

It's not really a yes or no, but more of a if yes, what changes, if any, would you like done. If no, your opinion is invalid and you're an infidel.

Well, from the sounds of it, no one is against it, and there are already a few people who are anticipating it, and will be contributing quite a bit. Sounds like a yes to me..

But we'll wait for lpx, he might want to change/rename the actual layout of the forums.

I have one objection.
I feel that Zuneboards is getting a bit crowded (with forums).
This is a Zune forum, and we have so many extra catagories as-is.

Could we try and keep the Computer/Hardware forums minimal?

For example Just keep it at
Hardware ---
PC
Mac

We already talk about the Zune software on this forum, and if we start throwing in typical software (like when we added the General Forum), then the forum will start to move more into a "general" forum, and become less of a Zune hub.

Am I making sense, I don't think I am. :-/

It could have, but it's nice to keep things open with your members. Allow them to be involved. Creates a better atmosphere.

If you guys choose not to do it, I won't mind. It was just a suggestion. I just thought that since there was a Sports and Hobbies topic, a PC/Mac topic wouldn't be a bad suggestion, and more relevant.....I was actually surprised that one didn't already exist....plus I'm a PC geek so....it's you guys'/gals' decision....I guess also partly because me checking/posting all over the internet is kind of an.....addiction and time consuming, and if it were localized to one website it would be nice....and less time consuming...for me.

Edit: I think it would also draw more traffic and more people would feel welcome as a group...

That's kind of the point. I think it's good to have a very broad range of things to discuss, and places to discuss them. The Zune info. will certainly not suffer from us branching into 'regular' things, if anything, it will be enhanced. I think people would like to be able to discuss regular things with people. Over time, we'll build our own little community, and people will be drawn to that. Growth is not a bad thing. Although we will expand, we will always focus on the Zune, and all aspects of it.

Exactly. I like to have the members involved, besides, it was a members idea, so I figured other members would like to have a say at least.

Ya, having regular stuff to talk about makes people feel more 'at home,' and comfortable.

Does site news show on the front page, or is it only Zune news?

I agree. I don't want too many forums with low-posts. That's why we need to think of a way to minimalize the number of categories. Any suggestions?

We should just have one forum called "Off-Topic" or something where all of those extra forums go. IT could include the sports/hobbies/games/media/etc and really make the site look alot cleaner and more professional.

They're all in General Discussion.
