I got a zune pretty recently and it seems like it doesnt handle black very well- in a picture or movie. IT seems kind of pixelated in a way anyone else have this

its probably the conversion that is having a problem . . . i tried downloading stuff from here and ive never had any problem like yours . . . the movies are great and it doesnt get pixelated and the black is very clear, no smudge of gray . . . it depends actually on how the movies are compressed and converted . . . it happens to some of my movies . . . but not all . . . i just reconvert them . . .

It is the conversion. Do you convert the video in 320x240 MP4?
'cause if you don't and watch it, it WILL look correct, but when you go to sync, the Zune Marketplace is convert it and compress it to the format mentioned above. That requires extreme amounts of algorythms which will make any movie look somewhat pixelated on any media device - including Zune and iPod and PSP ![]()

well... it's the zune, and it's the video
I haven't seen many movies that handle the color blakc perfectly... they always have different blocks of different shades of black. it does this on my tv, and on my zune, and even sometimes on my computer. The only vids that i've used that don't do this are the 4 gig iso video files, and high def video. also the zune's color is kinda low... so when you use dark colors, try to make it completely black... and don't use any kind of gradient... otherwise you'll get a kinda blocky looking pic. so yeah... solid colors work the best on the zune... if there's any kind of black with any hint of another color in it... it freaks out. lol I don't remember what it was but I think the zune only have 16 bit color display.

yeah not the converting i tried it at a lower bit rate and it still looks good on the computer and bad on the zune- also it happens with any color when its dark in the movie. if in the movie its outside or bright the color is fine, as well as pitch black.
