Default Xbox 360 Elite is torturing me!

So if you may have not known, I am planning on getting a Xbox 360. I get the final paycheck I need this Tuesday and I am excited.

Well, this morning, I open the ads to see if there are any sales on 360s. Guess what I saw? Best Buy and Circuit City both had 360 Elites in stock! If you may have not known, these things are pretty damn rare, and for only $80 more, are a much better deal since they come with the 120gig HD and the HDMI cable, which I would use.

Here is the kicker - I only have $312 at the moment, and am expecting a $145 or so paycheck... on Tuesday. It looks like Best Buy was already out of stock at 9:00am, and I just called Circuit City at ~4:00pm today, and they said they have 5 left.

Ahh! I am so close, yet so far! Now, I gotta be tortured by waiting two days and praying that there will be at least one left after 3:00pm on Tuesday. I know I'll still be $50 shy of the price after tax on Tuesday, but my sister has offered to let me barrow that money and pay her back the following week when I get a nice $260 or so paycheck. Sadly, she only has about $115 in the bank, so she can't loan me the rest now.

I guess all I can do for now is this:

Code:
For i = 1 to 100
My.Wrist.Cut(PocketKnife)
next i

The 360 wasn't recalled, and the new 360's have new things in them to stop some of the problems causing the red ring. Don't worry, Pierce. Most 360's don't get the red ring for 18 months+ And Microsoft Increased the warranty to 3 years for the red ring, so there's nothing to worry about.

i think they are only recalling stuff that they have confirmed to be the batch that has problems . . . and i believe that the new release dont have those problems anymore . . .

Yeah, Xploziv, they'd only recall the systems if they're dangerous. If some of them don't have problems, why would they want to have people sending them back?

Eh, I still don't think they would. It would be more of a loss in money to recall without selling, rather than selling.

It's like losing the shipment's profits. Atleast if they sell them they only have to fix the one's that do have problems.

I know about the 3 year warranty. I also know about how some of the 360s RROD. I plan on taking good care of mine and letting plenty of air get to it. I even have a PERFECT spot for it where it will get a lot of air under my dad's 35" 1080p HDTV or under my TV in my room that is a 28" almost as old (I turn 18 in Aug) as me POS.

I just really want to get the Elite since it has more hard drive room and the HDMI. I plan on getting one of those game passes at my local HollyWood Video, so I will have a lot of game saves, along with all the downloads I want to do.

Now, at 7:34, I checked the Circuit City website, and it looks like all but one of their stores, which was out of stock this morning too, still are in stock! I have hope!

Now, hopefully my Fable will arrive here soon that I ordered off of the Live Search Club, and then I can play that and my PGR3 I got from the club, too, until the next week, when I have enough to start paying for the game pass.

Good luck Pierce, I'm probably going to get an Elite if I ever can get rid of my Premium =P

I could return my 360, but then I lose the content I have on it. So, I guess I'm fine with 20gb... even if I do have to delete stuff every so often.

There will be no price drop for a long time. I work for GameStop, and there is no notice from Microsoft, GameStop, or any(body)thing else. Cost will remain at $479.99.

The reason it takes so long to get the 360 back is because of the extended warranty causing a flood of 360's to go in for repair. It's always best to get the warranty through the place of purchase

Thats a little bit of assurance I'm not going to spend $80 more dollars that if I waited a day longer.

As for getting the warranty through he place of purchase, don't they just contact Microsoft themselves? Seeing how this is going to be a new unit, if it comes DOA, I can just return it. However, seeing how I already had one bad run in with Circuit City (sold me a really sh**y LCD monitor, luckily they gave a full refund), I really don't want to do a warranty there, but they are my only choice if I want an elite.

So, is there even a real difference between warranty via Microsoft or the store of purchase, besides who I ship/hand my hopefully never to die xbox to?
