Was I the only one slightly disappointed by the level of play? Granted, I was watching in a sports bar with a TV that needed to have the color adjusted, but overall, that game was not terribly exciting. Liverpool had ample opportunities in the first 20 or so minutes, but to quote Paul Doyle here,
"If Jermaine Pennant and Bolo Zenden were postmen in your district, you'd wake up every morning to find parcels in your shrubbery and letters strewn all over your lawn: that's how bad their delivery is. Both had ample opportunity in the first half to exploit Milan's narrowness, but both failed miserably to turn time and space into tangible success, their crosses either too wild or too feeble." I am a Pennant fan, the way he carries himself now is much better than in previous years, not to mention his ball skills are phenomenal, but he needed to finish. Gerrard had his opportunities as well, but overall did not factor much into the game, or at least what I saw of it. I guess Milan did enough to win, but that game was not what I expected.

Football/soccer.
I agree. People say Liverpool controlled the game but for the first half I was sitting in a pub that had music playing instead of the TV commentators. And the game was painful to watch. I had doubts about Pennant but recently he's been doing well and putting good crosses in. Agree about Zenden - all the games I've seen him play, he hasn't looked as if he's trying. Maybe that's because he hasn't played many games, but he could at least try and impress. Alonso also seemed not great, he was playing as if he was frustrated with himself non stop. Personally, I would have had Kuyt and Crouch up front, Kewell on the left, Mascherano and Gerrard in the centre and Pennant on the right. Unlike some, I'm a fan of Kewell's and he's just been constantly unlucky like Michael Owen. |

I wouldnt have gone with Kuyt . the man couldnt finish even if his life depended upon it. I like his energy though. Always chasing balls. Thats another reason he was in there.
Liverpool had always problems with good attackers. I really hope with the new American and Canadian owners that they can get some decent attackers. Person in my mind: Tevez!

Totally agree about Tevez. I was thinking just yesterday what a good player he is, despite being in a difficult situation at West Ham. Mascherano's come so Tevez may as well too
I do feel sorry for West Ham fans though and would admire Tevez a lot if he repaid their support by trying to get them back in the Premiership. What am I saying though - I'm a Liverpool supporter. What I don't want though is some lightweight from the Spanish league, who Benitez is more likely to get in.Last edited by ZuneScribe : 05-25-2007 at 08:43 AM. |

Funny you mention about a bad with loud music on. I begged the bartender to put the game on, explaining hat this is MY SUPERBOWL. Little did I know it would end up being so painful to watch I had to start drinking at 3:30 in the afternoon. At least the bartender was cute.

yeah and I heard that he might want to stay at West Ham to repay the fans, which is honorable this day and age. But no player this day will give up big bids by big teams. Personally, I wish he could come to Real..but Liverpool is as a good as destination as any.
