Anyone know how long until Microsoft opens up non-warranty repair service?

If you didn't see my zewbie post, I got my 30G Zune for $80 from my Aunt. Her dog loved the nice suade pouch that came with it and chewed on the top left corner. The top left corner of the screen has a black, circular dead area from the chewing. I called Zune Tech support and they said any non-warranty covered repairs are not happening yet but it should be very soon. I hope very soon, the damage isn't huge. I listen to music just fine and can actually enjoy episodes of the Office on my Zune. But it can prove annoying mostly when scrolling through menus. Just want to know if anyone has any idea.

Why is yours not covered by warranty? Are you living outside of the U.S.?

Dog chewing (or maybe it's screen damage...) is not covered under warranty.
