Default Does anyone here play any MMORPGs..?

Just curious, I am looking at some good MMORPG games to play. I am currently playing the oh-so-fun-browser game RuneScape. If anyone knows of a much better MMORPG, do share!

RuneScape is evil. I wasted about 2 years of my life playing it. MMORPGs really suck you in. It is for that reason I will never go back to playing MMO's. But if you really must know, Knight Online (free), Guild wars ($40, but free from then on), and World of Warcraft (Initially like $40 not including the expansion pack, plus 20 dollars a month or so) are all great MMORPGs.

Thanks for the info. I don't think any MMORPG will be able to suck me in. It's just something that I'd like to do when there is absolutely nothing to do (or just lazy to actually do).

RPG = Role Playing Game

Runescape = "The beginner's mmorpg" It was a great game to teach you the rules of mmorpgs. Why? It is dirt cheap, and it teaches you to stay the hell away from people who are 13 online. Also, it teaches you the slang. (Though, most of it is teh typ tht mkes n0 snce"

Guild wars = "The poor man's rpg" It is NOT a MMO. Why? At no time are you with more than 20 or so people. At most times, you are only with 5 people at most. However, I did find it fun, but I wish I hadn't paid $50 for it, and am very glad I never bought any of its "expansions"

Everquest 1+2 = DONT BUY FROM SONY ONLINE "ENTERTAINMENT"! They care nothing of the player base and quite literally kill their games. (Planetside, Matrix Online, Star Wars Galaxies, ect)

Vangaurd = cheap WoW knockoff, once again DONT BUY FROM SONY ONLINE "ENTERTAINMENT"

Planetside = A game with such great potential... it was so fun.. until Sony Online "Entertainment" decided one day, "hmm.. you know what this game needs? BIG FREAKIN ROBOTS LAWLS LAZOR BEAMS PEW PEW PEW"

Final Fantasy XI = I havn't played it personally, but friends have told me it is a grind fest. Any game where you lose hard earned money + xp can really be bad for you. I remember back to my RS days when I died and lost my full addy set. I was so depressed that I felt sick.

World of Warcraft + The Burning Crusade = By far the best I've played. While yes, the graphics could be better, Blizzard did a great job with gameplay. It is great for casuals and hard core gamers alike. For example, at end game, you can do raids into very hard dungeons for the hard core players, or you can PVP or do semi-hard dungons if you are more casual. After getting to 70 and completing most of the quest (very close to my epic flying mount), I have to say the expansion was great. I enjoyed every second of it. The only thing with WoW is that it is semi-expensive, and takes a good amount of time to get to the max level. But hey, you don't want to not beat a game in 24 hours!

I'd say, if you are around 10-13 years old, play Runescape. If you are 14-16, play Guild Wars. If you are 16-whatever, then play World of Warcraft.

My personal favorite MMOs over the years, going in order from most favorite to least are World of Warcraft, Planetside, Guild Wars, Runescape.

All time favorite quote of the day.

So WOW does seem like the most popular. Perhaps I should give it a try. Oh, and SOE is garbage. When I tried to cancel my membership in Everquest, it was an insane process for some reason.

The quote would be funny if it wasn't true.. THEY RUINED MY GAME!

Yea, thats why I like to stick with Game cards. A lot more easier and there is no cancellation process. You just let it run out of time.

As with World of Warcraft - over 8,000,000 players world wide can't be wrong!

I didn't read ahead in the post (so I don't know if someone else mentioned it or not), and I personally don't know much about it, but apparently World of Warcraft is the undisputed MMORPG king these days.

But yes, WoW is the king of MMOs IMO, and for a reason.

These type of games suck the life out of you. I used to play them a long time ago,but the maturity level in them has drop so badly now. What you have now is a bunch of kids using mommy or daddy's credit card to play them. Save yourselves the annoyance and stay away from them.

It only sucks you in if you let it.

I have played WoW for 2 years, with not playing summers due to a job at a summer camp, and taking 2 long breaks from it.

Don't label the game, label the player as addictive. If you have an addictive personality, then you may want watch yourself and be careful. But if you have a lot of free time and want something to do to let you communicate with friends and such, it is a great thing.

And for you WoW players, I have an update. I am now exalted with Aldor and have a Green Swift Griffin The 5000g grind was sooo worth it. I am now half and half working on leveling a shammy and my engineering
