Less than a week with White Zune

Well.

It's been a little under a week with my White Zune. The things I can say I understand with some of the community here are as follows:

Battery Time: It seems like I get 6-10 hours of battery life out of the monster. Even with-out flipping through tracks, and the screen on 5 sec duration. Radio seems to permit me a little more life out of the battery though. and movies they seem to be a tiny bit less then audio.

Video Conversion: I wish there was a simple program that came with the software (For paying 250 bucks, I really wish that this was included) where I could easily pop in a DVD and rip it to my Zune. I have only installed the suggested one from the Conversion section of the forum, and I have not played with it, because i frankly can't understand it.

Audio: I love the Audio. I think it sounds a ton better then my iPod Nano. With the Skullcandy earbuds I picked up for it, Its like a match made in heaven. I Hear nothing when I listen to my music. Only the sounds of what I want to listen to.

Video Play: This is an awesome feature. From the videos that are already ON the Zune, they play smoothly, and crisply, with no dull or pausing or being slow. I Honestly can't wait to load a DVD on to it and see how that works first hand.

Picture: Pretty much the same for Video play. The pictures come out crisp and clean, and They fit really well onto the background of the Zune when you customize your wallpaper. Which I seem to be doing alot. LoL!

Radio: I Must say. For a tiny device with a 30GB Drive, The radio quality is outstanding. I have a Home Stereo right next to me, and it's constantly picking up static. The Zune does not pick up any of the static the stereo does. I was kind of weary about it at first before I purchased it, but I must say, i am very happy with it.


Zune Software: Well. This is both Good & Bad in my opinion. For the product being out only a few short months, I Say they have a pretty huge selection of Albums, and I was quickly finding myself adding 1-5gigs really fast full of albums that i don't even own. My one thing I have to inquire about that is that for 15.95 a month. There should be some way to keep them, or at least a hack program out there to let me keep them :-P. The search is great. Kind of laggy but then promptly fixes itself upon recovery of the artist/song/album I am searching for.

Quality of the MP3 player: it is outstanding. I Love how it feels in my hands and I love the double dipped feature. I own the white one, and its kind of like a white ipod dipped in a foggy glass sorta speak. It also contrasts the buttons, and screen so much more. It took me a long time to determine which one i was going to purchase. I Wanted to be unique, and i wanted to be different from other people. After seeing "Post Pictures of your Zune" Thread. Only 3 people seemed to have owned the white one. It was a hard toss up though. I really enjoyed the fact it came in Black & Blue, and Brown & Green. The buttons are great too. I Miss having the click wheel, but you know, that thing to stuck so many times, and sometimes i found myself hitting forward and it would go backward. The middle console button I think needed to be adjusted a little bit. It feels too lose for my taste.

Performance: Software performance has been in other words, Pretty great so far. Better then what I expected. I First saw people complaining about static eletricity, and it shutting off, or crashing, or skipping, etc. I have not expierenced any of these problems whatsoever (At the current moment). The one thing I did notice is before I upgraded the firmware, things seemed to be running a bit laggy/slow. Now they're perfect, but you can still notice that slight milisecond pause between flipping tracks, and scrolling through what feature you're after.


Anyways. I Hope Microsoft Delivers more Firmware updates in the future with things we've suggested, and I hope they do not go after the Flash Zune or the Zune Phone instead of leaving us 1.0 Users in the dark.

Some things I would like to see are removal or upping the 3 days/played feature between sharing songs. this is something that might cause a problem, my female wants to purchase a zune, and i think its neat that you can transfer Songs back and forth through Wi-Fi. Although, I think she's gonna have a problem when She has to pay for the songs that I've already payed for. I think it also needs a clock, like most people have already said, along with an alarm clock of some sort. Maybe not a speaker, but a light beeping noise. Sometimes i fall asleep on long trips, and with noise cancelling, I can't always tell where I am at unless I wake up. I would also like to see video's added to the Zune marketplace along with a Microsoft Built program to allow us to convert our DVD's and home videos on our computer onto the zune with no problem.

hmmm. i had the same problem when i first got myne. but i soon figured out that i was turning it off wrong. you turn it of by pressing and holding the back and down button for about 2-5 seconds.

all the zune colors are great... I think I like the black best.... but it would be cooler if there was a black and red zune.... unless the red turned out to look pink... then it wouldn't be very cool.... I think that a white and blue zune would be cool too....

Despite the fact that it would always be smuged or something, I think a chrome Zune would be awesome or at the very least a chrome skin like the specks tough skin.
