Yeah well thats why I thought if we used the touchpad as a circle and it basically just highlighted the letter and you could select it. I'm sure if the Zune gets ry ou'll either have to select each letter from a pop up keyboard or it'll be something like this.

check out the kieyboard implemented into the high score system of this game. I think it works rather nicely although it could be compressed to make more space on the screen or even flipped to landscape to use a QWERT setup.

Yeah, I saw that and I was thinking, "There has to be some way to implement that into something else!

Yeah, you should really either choose the Zune Clock and Date or ZBCLock and try and team up with the dev of one of those and then integrate - in the ZBClock it could be under the menu, and maybe in the ZC&D you could just highlight the date and click on it, and it'd open your calendar. And you could program it to use the same background on both too, probably. It'd be very cool to get a suite of these little apps all connected so you don't have to reset to switch. Then even with the reset it'd be worth using all of these.

Anyway, nice job doing something new, even if there's not much use for it right now.

I think a neat feature could be to change the background color of different days or put a star on certain days to signify that there is something you need to remember for that day. THis would be an easy feature to implement I think. Definitely easier than setting up a way to type in things. Maybe an option of different colors or different symbols to signify different common things to remember. Maybe just click on the day you want to bring up a menu of what to mark it with.

I think this would make it more useful. I would definitely use it. (:

Much more useful with a lot less work than imputing any sort of text to do's. You'd just have to leave it to your memory to remember what each color or symbol signifies. And even if you forget what you have to do that day, you at least know there's something you have to do and you'll probably figure it out.

This may not come true the XNA team themselves said their games will do this it's because Microsoft and it's crappy DRM protection the zune has to restart. Otherwise you could use programs to set up other things inside the zune.

Calendar works great though. Good job with it. It's nice to see how many users are giving a go at this new XNA technology before anything is officially released lol.

Going back to the idea of text input, a cool idea would be to have a digital keypad like on a cell phone. You use the zune pad to move around to a different number and then if you tap the middle button in a certain time period more than once, it will scroll through the different letters assigned to that number like texting on a cell phone. That way the keyboard could still be smaller. Just a thought.

It would be good but still not as simple as just using a cellphone, which has keys assigned to it. It might actually take more time to do it this way.

It would only take up to 1 more keystroke to use the cellphone keyboard on the zune.

How'd you figure that out?
Either way, I'm still right, it takes more time so :P
But I guess it wouldn't take so much time, so idk, maybe it would be good.

I agree with miceylulu. A cell phone layout keyboard would just be impractical with the zune's controls. Just a simple alphabetical order (or QWERTY) key pad would be simple and more practical and quicker. a keyboard doesn't have to take up too much space. it just has to have legible letters which a cell phone layout would have to have anyways too. Lets not make it more complicated than it needs to be.

If someone wants to do the cell phone idea, there should be an option to switch between cell phone and normal alphabetical. some might take to the cell phone layout if they text a lot, but some people like me really suck at typing on a cell phone.

I think the colored date scheme is a pretty good idea. I was thinking you could make a handful of generic labels for dates. Like "b-day" or "work" or "class". Then all you would do is select a day, select a label and as long as you can remember the specifics it would only take a few clicks. Either way good job making this man. Foundation apps like this is what the community needs to build up on

I have just updated the Calendar and set it up so that you can mark specific dates with one of five colors. It's not much, but it's a step in the right direction.

Also, I'll try to have an updated screenshot of the program, one that shows the new features, posted by tomorrow.
